Enjoy grooving to the music. Does dancing relaxes you and makes you forget all your worries?

Street Woman Fight is MNET’s first-ever dance reality program. In the show, eight all-women dance crews from South Korea competed to win the title of K-dance, with prize money of 50 million, a deal with Budweiser, and a trophy.

The dance genres were hip-hop, waacking, locking, krumping, and break-dancing. The focus was on street dance.

The show was hosted by the handsome Kang Daniel and judged by BoA (a K entertainer), Taeyong (a K rapper), and Hwang Sang Hoon (a K singer and entertainer).

Each episode has a concept, and the crew has to perform and live up to the judge’s expectations. For instance, in episode 1, the Battle of the Underdog, two participants from the rival teams call out to each other to dance. The better dancer wins the round.

The season is won by the dance crew Holy Bang, and Hook is the runner-up.

The Feel-Good Part

It is a show dedicated and devoted to all women dance crews in street dancing which is a rare combination. It allowed them to perform and outshine each other to win the title.

The judge’s comments were honest and sometimes a bit harsh, but it only pushed the crews to do better.

Some of the dance battles were fabulous and will be re-watched for eternity.

The Disappointing Factor

The show is about dance, but the judges were all K-pop stars. It might have added more value if they had chosen a dancer to be part of the mix.

Some of the on-screen drama between dance crews, especially Holy Bang and CocoNButter, felt rehearsed. It might have been essential to gain audience traction, but some of it could have been avoided.

The camera work was sub-par, and the song selection for specific dances was not a match. For instance, one of the dancers, Aiki, had to freestyle on a slow song.

The sound effects were average, and it seemed like the production team had not shot a dance battle before.

In-Depth Analysis

If you like dance reality shows and street dance, then this might be the show for you.

The show is all about female crews and street dancing. It is uncommon to watch female teams battle it out in street dancing. Typically, styles such as krumping and locking are associated with males, but this show changes all that.

Eight all-women dance crews fight it out to win the title. They perform, they sweat it out, they fight, they argue, and they outperform. There is dance, but there is also drama. The series has some great dance battles between individual dancers and between groups.  Ultimately, one of them takes home the title, and it is Holy Bang this season.

Along with their dancing prowess, the show allows lesser-known dance teams to showcase their talent and bring them into the limelight.

It is fantastic to see the talent that K-street dance has to offer. It is not something one typically associates with Korean culture, but the change is evident.

Star Power

Each of the dance crew is a powerful force. The judges are lovely, and the host, Kang Daniel, has done a fabulous job.

Overall Opinion

The show is a good watch if you can overcome shortcomings such as sound effects and music.
