TV Show Digest

Also known as Player 7, the show deals with eight members facing a given situation hilariously while trying not to laugh to avoid penalties. The cost includes the removal of 10,000 Won from their appearance fee and being soaked with water. The member who laughs the least will get paid in full.

The Feel-Good Part

The hysterical aspect of the show brings tears of laughter. Every situation created welcomes unusual riotous circumstances, yet the notion of penalties bounds the members to control their belly-wrenching urge of laughter. It pulls the comic strings ravenously, so keep the tissues ready.

The Disappointing Factor

The notion of drenching them with water has a funny aspect behind it. But it gained a monotonous presence with progression. Given that Korean shows offer out-of-the-box twists to make it engaging, this seems to wear off as it goes on. Even though some changes show the upgraded aspect of this show compared to the first season, it still needs some elevation.

In-Depth Analysis

The show’s format is roughly mentioned before, but this season made subtle changes compared to the earlier one. Rather than focusing on punishing individual people in the first season, here it goes for team penalties. It draws more on role-playing than controlling laughter and limits water-carrying backpacks for certain situations instead of all. They also introduced a new feature at the end of every episode called Bonus Play. Here each member performs a skit, or funny footage edits are provided in place of that.

The show begins with a big prank on the members and a humorous introduction of the eighth member. What made it grasping was the peak of surprises and randomness presented to the members by the production team. Aside from their experiences from the first season, they were unaware of the change in rules, which they found out hilariously. It provides a rush of incidents before the members understand their position. Thus they strategically put the show in a manner to impart funny reactions and use the penalties to do the same. It touches on various levels of comical ruptures. The first episode deals with the play of language, subtly transforming the seriousness of the situation into a comic venture. Later episodes reveal the members to the public. Holding the ploy of engaging them in their show transforms the mundanity into hilarious acts.

Star Power

Comedic regular members Lee Soo Geun, Lee Yong Jin, Lee Yi Kyung, Kim Dong Hyun, Lee Jin Ho, Hwang Je Sung and Jung Hyuk hype the show in their dual attires. Their duality shows Soo Geun as a variety leader, Dong Hyun as a laughing fighter, Je Sung as the lovely and cheap person, Yong Jin as a buffer, Jin Ho as the innocent but smarty person, Yi Kyung as the comedian-actor and Jung Hyuk as the world’s tension. The new member Hwang Chi Yeul acts as the crown prince of China.

Overall Opinion

The amount of laughter bears the possibility of exceeding this season despite its short stature. Don’t choke on your food!
