TV Show Digest

The reality show revolves around the life of “Heart Signal” cast embers from season 2 and season 3. Their daily routines, friendships and romances are caught on camera.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is a picturesque representation of the balance between work and private life. The routines of the cast members posit an influencer vibe and carry significant lifestyle ideas.

The Disappointing Factor

Even though it is a reality show, it almost structures itself as a K-drama. The selected cast members from “Heart Signal” somehow run close to the idea of a ‘perfect’ life. What makes it more believable is the presence of real people instead of characters. It gives off the idea of idealisation in portraying the cast while it might not always be so for everyone. Drawing these lines limits the definition of ‘perfection’ and somehow moves away from the aspect of differences. The picturesque delineation of the cast’s lives running almost on similar rhythms in terms of career, financial, and personality pertains to this idea. While this show can be entertaining in doing so, it holds the baton of misleading and misinterpreting as well.

Moreover, setting a chain of viewers to watch and chat about people’s life doesn’t add any extra layer to the show and seems unnecessary.

In-Depth Analysis

The show is based on the theme of people watching the life of friendships and romance of certain people in reality. It structures in a K-drama way and includes viewers’ comments on their relations and friendships. It frankly fathoms a realistic portrayal of one of the recurrent things inherent in society, gossiping. Even though the show doesn’t reflect its signs, it runs close to that concept. Commenting and making a show out of people’s private lives seems more desirable by including a panel of viewers who would sit there to chat about them. Framing the cast as people from specific classes shifts it towards the direction of idealisation, which is not different from K-dramas. What sprinkles the exciting factor is that these people and not fictional characters. Another significant cultural connotation that sets the frame for this show is the toy machine. It consists of small balls of messages. Each person gets one message randomly from the toy machine. Here the idea of fate intricately connected to the belief, in general, emerges. It provides a means to connect the characters while obeying its role as the mysterious message giver. The randomness of a situation often affixes with the idea of destiny. Especially when it comes to love, fate and destiny play a relevant role in people’s belief systems.

Star Power

The show’s panellists are Lee Sang Min, Kim Hee Chul, Shin Dong and Hyun Seung Hee. The cast includes Oh Young Joo, Jung Jae Ho, Kim Do Kyun and Kim Jang Mi from “Heart Signal 2”. While Lee Ga Heun, Park Ji Hyun, Seo Min Jae and Jung Eui Dong are from “Heart Signal 3”.

Overall Opinion

If you were a fan of the “Heart Signal” series, then it’s likely that you’ll enjoy the show.
