In-Depth Analysis

The reality show introduces each of the 23 band members connecting them through ‘time and space’. The theme of the multiverse binds the show. An anonymous narrator speaks of the game’s rules and calls out the members. Thus, getting the ball rolling. The stage effects and squared boxes give futuristic illusions, which go in sync with the theme. The narrator posits himself as the ‘super human’ of the multiverse. These elements add to the effect of sci-fi. It gets further convinced with the inclusion of next-level technology games as neoball. This way, it introduces the product and the idea of playing through the band member. The twist comes in with the introduction of different games for each of the members.

Games in South Korea are one of the recurrent familiarities amongst the people. Whether in casual gatherings or to pass leisure time, games of different kinds make almost an inevitable presence. It is one of the crucial factors held in this show. Since all the band members from sub-unit groups hardly meet on screen, this opportunity is noteworthy for the NCT fandom. The strategic use of structuring the games makes them more entertaining. Ascribing each member to a different challenge creates a nature of randomness. But making it mysterious and then putting the said games in sync with the person’s most known skill lets them test their abilities.

Furthermore, the strict rules often get them off guard and lengthen the show’s time. It adds a penalty for members who take too on or can’t pass the given challenges, which makes it fun to watch. The games come on different levels. For some, it is easy, moderate and difficult. But what highlights it is the constant support of the band members. They cheer each other and even leave their positions to come together and help the challenge solve it.

Korean reality shows often add different twists and strategic highlights to make them stand out. Here, using several such techniques enhances the fun factor.

Also, the games equalize as a mission for completion. But the openness of the band members in seriously playing the games while helping each other shifts the nature of tension to fun parole among themselves. It goes on to picture their confidence and nuanced ability in one frame.
