Movie Digest

As the name suggests, this movie, Mon Boxing, is about bare hand boxing between kids of a village called the Mon refugee village. The winners get cash prizes. This movie talks about how refugees face problems in unknown places. The film director has done a remarkable job by portraying 100 years of history in less than an hour.

The Feel-Good Part

The opening of the movie is shot beautifully, showing the Tenasserim Hills, the jungles, and rivers. This sets a good framework for where the film is set. Then we come to see the Mon village. It is a settlement of soldiers that previously fled from the war around the 1980s. The movie’s main plot is the bare fistfight that happens between kids. There was no age or weight restriction. Anyone who wishes to fight can do so by telling the judge. The more you watch the movie, the more you see that the refugees had to face many problems, and it was the same worldwide.

The Disappointing Factor

There is not anything as disappointing factor in the movie. The fights were all shot in a close-up frame, which showed how they affected the boys. One more thing that the close-up shots revealed was that there was not much technique in the style of fighting. They were all unprofessional players, so they had no proper training, which explains it.

In-Depth Analysis

These kinds of bare fistfights have happened in Burma for centuries. More violent activities take place in the movie. Each match is shown as an epic battle to show the struggle between two countries fighting for their individual identities. The closeness of the shot will make the audience flinch with pain when they see the boxers get hit. The blood and sweat of the fighters are shown to make the viewers realize the outside battle that is being fought simultaneously.

Star Power

Refugees all over the world face similar situations. It shows how innocent people had to leave their houses and live in an unknown place just because two governments failed to maintain the peace amongst them. In the unfamiliar place, they are deprived of all their rights. They are locked up in the new location where they cannot escape either. As they are refugees, they don’t get jobs, leading to poverty, abuse of kids, and even youngsters. And above all this, they have a class system that doesn’t let them live with their head held up high. All the actors very well portray all these emotions and trauma, and the direction has done a remarkable job. The feelings, pain, and the message about the refugee troubles in the world are so well portrayed that the audience would find themselves emphasizing them.

Overall Opinion

The movie Mon Boxing is a tragic documentary of how the world treats those innocent lives. These people were nowhere responsible for their actions, yet they paid the price for it. This movie is a brutal truth that the world needs to know about. This movie is a must-watch. The audience will get to know and understand the lives of people who were not as fortunate as they are. Mon Boxing is a powerful and impactful movie worthy of watching.
