What ensues is absolute chaos, comedy, and a story that will leave you at the edge of your seat. Who is the alien hiding in? Can the members of the Alien Research Club work together and save themselves from going extinct? Watch the movie and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

The most exciting part of the film is its premise. Being stuck together in a small space without truly knowing what’s going on outside is a predicament that almost everyone went through during the CoVid-19 lockdowns of 2020. The film is hilarious, with jokes that will brighten your day even though the idea that all these characters might eventually die remains prevalent. The suspense that builds up while still being hilarious is also the movie’s massive strong point. Aside from the comedy, it still is a very exciting film to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

Because the movie is a single film, it does not build up on many things, so it can seem like you are missing out on the bigger picture. The film is set in a bunker and leaves much of what happens to the outside world to the viewer’s imagination. The humor, while being genius, may come across as very slapstick and it may feel a bit immature. But if you can get over the nature of its comedy, then you are in for a pleasantly good viewing experience.

In-Depth Analysis

Above all, There is an Alien here is a film about trust and survival. It looks at how we need to work together to survive, and how chaos can lead to our downfall. It also is a beautiful view of what would have happened in 2020 if, instead of a virus, a literal alien invasion took place. And because of our experiences with 2020, the film can be so realistic to a majority of individuals.

Star Power

The director of the film is Choi Eun-jong, who has previously worked on films such as Dokgo Rewind and The Villainess. Cho Byeong Kyu plays the lead role in the film. He plays a person who has seen the worst event of his life and is just trying to survive. Cho Byeong-Kyu has starred in several notable films and dramas including, SKY Castle, A Beautiful Mind, Miss & Mrs Cops, Idol, and many more. The film also boasts several excellent supporting roles from Bae Noo Ri, Lee Hyun Woong, Tae Hang Ho, Yoon Jin Young, Jeon Jae Hyung, Kim Kyu Jong, and Maeng Bong Hak, as well as a guest appearance from Kim Young Chul.

Overall Opinion

There is an Alien here is a fun time all around while still remaining suspenseful. This film isn’t ‘perfect’ in any way, but it is an excellent look into what the sci-fi comedy genre has to offer.
