Movie Digest

Shuji and his family, the Sasayas, are forced to leave their luxurious Tokyo neighborhood due to his professional blunders and falling career. The shift is gradual, long, and agonizing. The two Sasaya children, an adolescent, and a young adult, unknowingly convert the grieving process into an enthusiastic and chaotic farewell party!

The Feel-Good Part

‘Wonderful Paradise’ is the ultimate self-aware, late-night film. It doesn’t start that way but quickly transforms into one of the wildest experiences anyone has ever seen on screen.

The Disappointing Factor

The second half is not as funny as the first half. It later becomes very chaotic, and things are too random.

In-Depth Analysis

‘Wonderful Paradise’ is a story about a broken familial relationship. We have a grumpy father, Shuji, who does not express appreciation toward his children or show any emotion. Akiko, the mother, indulged in infidelity that may have contributed to the family’s demise. Akane, the daughter, plans a party to show disapproval of the move. Yuta, the son, is different. He clings to his mother and tries to get away from the party. Everything that goes around the house is absurd. They showcase funerals, coffee bean aliens, festivals, etc. Every few minutes, the film delights in presenting another weird piece of imagery that is practically unexplainable but oddly flows logically from the previous one. But each pun made or character is vital to add the weirdness to the film.

Star Power

All the characters together make this movie complete. Every character brought out their skills which were impactful to make this film a successful absurd comedy movie.

Overall Opinion

It is a crazy comedy movie that detaches itself from reality. It may or may not be your cup of tea, but it sure is something you got to give a chance!
