Yuka and Hayashi know a secret about the incident three years ago. What could be the secret? What is the truth of that day? Why does Hideki want to know the truth?

The Feel-Good Part

The cinematography and tone are excellent and convey emotions to the viewers. Although the music is lacking, it helps the story touch the viewers’ hearts. The movie talks about the trauma faced by the survivors of an incident and their coping mechanisms. It also talks about how the survivors are treated by others, being insensitive toward their trauma. As we go on with the story, we see how the survivors try to overcome the trauma of the incident. The story emphasizes how the parents’ behavior influences their children’s behavior. The movie has a good pace and avoids excess information in the plot.

The Disappointing Factor

Even though the movie has good pacing, it loses momentum after the incident shown in the beginning. The visual department suffers a bit, although it does not affect the movie’s quality. For those who cannot see the intention of the movie to bring about awareness to viewers about violence, it may take a negative turn and cause a few audience members to become violent, as is the case of every violent movie.

In-Depth Analysis

‘One Cut In The Life’ is a movie with a heart-touching story. It focuses on the trauma faced by the survivors of a traumatizing event in the past. The movie begins with a scene of a massacre in a university. A few students give rise to the massacre. The movie brings about the awareness of how parents influence their children’s behavior. Even the relationship between them affects the children. The violent nature of a few parents reflects on their children, making them violent too. Seeing Yuka’s scarred face, the parents of the kindergarten kids where she works are horrified to see her face and refuse to send their kids to the kindergarten. Her colleagues support the parents’ protests against her. It portrays that the behavior of people surrounding the survivors affects the survivors. Watching the movie enhances the ability of the viewers to show empathy toward the survivors. The movie also shows that only those who have been traumatized can help other people going through a similar thing.

Star Power

Rio Kanno portrays the character of Yuka Minato, while Yuto Kobayashi portrays the character of Rintaro Goto. They play their parts magnificently, showing the struggle with the trauma. The occupations they choose to work at later in their lives show their helping nature toward other traumatized individuals.

Overall Opinion

The struggles faced by an individual due to trauma are expressed strongly in this movie.
