Movie Digest

Ishimori Uka is a very shy young girl. In middle school, she used to get bullied, and children called her a “stone.”

She meets a lemon color hair guy Miura Kai and gets admitted to the same school as him. He is pretty famous in his school but doesn’t talk much to anyone. He has his own secrets.

She wants to change herself now and she doesn’t want to be that shy girl who got bullied, she wants to be stronger now. Kai helps her get over her shyness.

The Feel-Good Part

There are no villainous or antagonist characters in the movie. It is a regular high school romance drama without any kind of melodrama.

The Disappointing Factor

It is a typical damsel in distress kind of movie where the girl needs saving, and the boy is praised for helping her and being just a decent human being. The girl always needs to be saved. Why?

In-Depth Analysis

Honey Lemon Soda is a high school drama revolving around Ishimori Uka and Miura Kai. Uka is a timid girl who got bullied in middle school. She meets Kai, the lemon-colored hair guy, and enters the same high school as him. He is a very silent guy who doesn’t talk to anyone but gets worried about Uka. She decides that she no more wants to be the shy girl and Kai helps her out.

There is nothing new in the movie. It is like the old high drama where the female lead needs saving, and the male lead keeps her. They somehow end up dating but then have to break up for some unworthy reason but then run for each other after two days and tell one another that they have feelings for each other.

Star Power

The actors are pretty good. But the male lead has more worth than the so-called “cool” guy who always gives everyone the cold shoulder.

Overall Opinion

It is a good time-pass movie. Watch it if you are into high-school romance, a grumpy guy, and a shy girl. The movie has nothing new to offer.
