Movie Digest

Guan Ning searched for his kidnapped daughter. A powerful organization owned by Li Mu contacts him and offers to discover his daughter if he assassinates Lu Kongwen, a promising novelist. The narrative of his novel revolves around a hero attempting to destroy Redmane, their cruel tyrant. The story appears to be affecting real life, and Li Mu wants Lu dead.

The Feel-Good Part

It’s a sophisticated plot that compellingly combines fantasy and reality. The film is entertaining from the beginning to the end. It has good CGI, the set, costumes, etc., which adds to the adventure effects of the film.

The Disappointing Factor

The intricate plot fails to neatly tie together the film’s multiple subplots, which don’t add much to the overall narrative.

In-Depth Analysis

The base plot of the movie is from a novel written by Shuang Xuetao. The film alternates between actual life and the realm of fantasy in such a way that keeps the audience wondering. The outstanding performances and features brilliantly gnarly and dramatic visuals with delectably dark humor support the real and fantasy switch. The first plot of the movie is about Guan’s search for his daughter and progressing scenes of the real world. The second plot is where the fantasy comes in vastly. The action, which is the main focus here, is where the film shines. The juxtaposition of a real-life storyline in which people with superpowers fight each other and a fantasy storyline that seems like it came straight out of a game works very well for the film since it allows for distinct forms of action. The fantasy version is the most amazing, but the main character’s combination of martial arts and superpowers is also pretty interesting.

Star Power

The cast did a great job bringing out the one-dimensional characters to life. Dong Zi Jian did amazingly by playing both the author and the lead role in the fantasy world, Lu Kong Wen. Lei Jia Yin convincingly portrays Guan Ning’s desperation and perseverance.

Overall Opinion

It is a well-made film which is something you have never experienced before. You are in for a ride!
