Drama Digest

Talay Luang is a Thai lakron with a story revolving around Natee, heir to a millionaire. Talay returns home at the request of his father. But by the time he returns, his father is on his deathbed. He now has to inherit the construction company and lead it. He takes a break and goes to an island for vacation. On the way, he gets attacked and thrown into the sea. A driver finds and saves him. She is Moya, owner of a resort on Nubdao island. On regaining consciousness, Natee doesn’t remember anything. Moya calls him Talay as he came from the sea. Talay and Moya fall in love with each other.

The Feel-Good Part

The villains of the plot are tricky and scary. Some villains are funny and not serious, like Thaneth. Characters like this make the drama, Talay Luang engaging. The chemistry between Natee and Moya is dazzling. The second lead couple has compelling chemistry too. The show is well-paced, and the acting is satisfactory. OSTs are not great, but they are good. Side characters like Prapas and Pooma make us fall in love with them.

The Disappointing Factor

The plot in itself is not unique. It is cliche and pretty repeated. There is no mystery like you know who are villains from the beginning. The viewers have to wait for the main characters to realize who is rotten around them. The first five episodes are somewhat slow, and the plot becomes more interesting only after that.

In-Depth Analysis

Natee goes on vacation to Nubdao island. On the way, he is attacked and thrown into the sea. Moya finds him while diving, and she saves him. She runs a resort on the island, inherited from her father. Moya takes him in, despite her monetary issues, and tends his wounds. He doesn’t remember anything about his life, and hence she names him Talay, the one from the sea. Talay’s personality is different from Natee’s. He is kind and warm. He feels indebted to Moya and decides to help her run the resort. Chawin also owns a resort on the island. Moya considers him as her competitor, but he likes her. Chawin’s resort attracts more customers than Moyas’. Moya’s best friend Namrin and Chawin have a tom and jerry relationship. They are our cute second lead couple. As time passes, Talay and Moya fall in love and choose to become husband and wife. Nune crashes their wedding day and declares that Talay is Natee, father to her to be born child. With no choice left, Moya breaks up with Talay. Talay returns to his home and eventually gets his memory back. Moya has a hard time forgetting Talay. Thaneth pesters Moya, to whom she owes money. He advises her to sell him her resort, but she is not interested in the offer. Thaneth is also interested in her. Moya gives a contract to Yotsakorn’s company to renovate her resort. Yotsakorn is Natee’s step-brother, and he is interested in Moya from the beginning. The whole situation brings Natee into the picture again. Natee also finds out that his attack was a murder attempt and his father’s death was a murder. He goes on to find the one behind all this. Despite all the drama going around, he pursues and wins back Moya.

Overall Opinion

Talay Luang is one of the above-average Thai lakron adapted from a novel by Dariya. Though the story is weak, the actors have done an excellent job and made the drama a good watch.
