Drama Digest

Nares is the secondary heir of Phunara Golf Club in Thailand. He must return to Thailand immediately as his half-brother Narin has gone missing. He meets Sai, who is his first love and Narin’s assistant, as soon as he returns to the country. Together, they solve the mystery of his brother’s disappearance.

The Feel-Good Part

The characters are pretty interesting as both are complex with development arcs and fight back in situations instead of being passive receptors. They have strong personalities, which is quite entertaining to watch as they interact together as it is a very different dynamic we are used to seeing. The chemistry between the leads is excellent, as viewers can feel their passion they feel for each other through the screen. The relationship also had a realistic progression, which is refreshing to watch in a show like this. The plot is quite engaging as the villains reveal themself early on, and the show unfolds the layers of scheming and manipulation instead, which is a great way to avoid falling into the predictable mystery problem that exists with shows in the mystery genre.

The Disappointing Factor

The story is pretty cliché and doesn’t stray away from the common plot points of this genre, which makes it predictable and may make it boring to watch. The toxic behavior depicted in relationships is glorified, which may be upsetting to watch for some viewers. The dialogues in the show were not well-written, especially when there were flashbacks in specific episodes. The bad dialogues get tired and distracting very fast, which may lead some audience members to drop the show early on. The music used in the show was uninspired and did not fit the show’s tone in anyway and sometimes didn’t even fit the tone of the show.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is not ground-breaking by any means, nor is it trying to be. It tries to deliver a romantic story with a mystery backdrop, utilizing all clichéd tropes possible. While the execution is lacking severely in many places, it is still quite an entertaining show to watch as the characters have great chemistry and the mystery unfolds fascinatingly.

Star Power

All the performances the leads gave were excellent as they looked convincing in their respective roles and had great chemistry on-screen. The performance of the villains and side characters is decent. They don’t do a good job in their respective scenes, but their mistakes don’t distract the viewers from the plot.

Overall Opinion

Payu Sai is a show that is entertaining to watch for people who enjoy the mystery as well as the romance since there is a heavy dose of both. Despite its shortcomings, it is still a show with many merits as a lot of the subplots in the show were well-written and managed to keep the audience engaged for the most part.
