Drama Digest

Sundae lives in a dormitory owned by Mrs Jam and her son Sky, dating is strictly prohibited here. She has to make the tough choice between her ex-boyfriend and new found love. Who will she choose? Girl Next Door: Motorbike Baby is related to the Girl Next Room Thai series.

The Feel-Good Part

The series is short as it only has four episodes, each forty-five minutes long, making it an easy watch. The story starts off as a sweet romantic story, which takes a different twist by the end, which gives it a different flavour. A lot of people who may feel saturated by the romance genre may appreciate the change in tone this show takes. The characters are the driving force of these dramas, and the ones in this are well-written. They have interesting traits, hilarious, and most importantly make the audience care about them. The love triangle is done in a way that is intriguing and adds a good conflict for the protagonist, all three characters play to their strengths but falter sometimes, which makes the show quite interesting to watch as this element really brings out the characters personality in a short time. The side characters are the highlight of the show as they bring comedic elements to the drama and diffuse conflict well. The show concludes in a way that explains everything that was included in the show, which gives the audience closure with the story and its characters.

The Disappointing Factor

The show is not consistent in the way it presents its characters, the love interests progressed as characters based on Sundae’s choice just to make one look better than the other when chosen by her. The traits that the characters show during the later parts of the show feel inauthentic, and for that reason may disappoint viewers. Love triangles are not enjoyed by many viewers, this show may not be for them as it depends heavily on the main love triangle to move the plot forward. Additionally, the characters go around in circles and make decisions that are frustrating to watch. The story takes a twist in the later half, which is not alluded to in the first few episodes. This foreshadowing may have been necessary to maintain a consistent tone throughout the show.

In-Depth Analysis

The plot should have been focused on the fun parts of the romance instead of introducing a twist as the show is short and there wasn’t enough time to deliver a fully developed tone shift. It could also let viewers down in the final episode as they may not have anticipated the twist, which could end up being a jarring viewing experience rather than an enjoyable one. Some of the conflict could have been resolved quickly instead of going around in circles. Despite its shortcomings, the show still manages to deliver the romantic and comedic aspects well, making it an overall fun watch

Star Power

All the performances were good. The lead actors provided the drama with sweet romantic moments while as the actors playing side characters and incredible comedic timing. Both strike a good balance and complement each other’s acting performances.

Overall Opinion

The show is enjoyable for the most part and makes for a short and sweet watch.
