Drama Digest

The drama ‘Drag, I Love You’ deals with the investigation carried out by an undercover police officer in a drag bar. Prabsuek is there to unravel a complex case related to a local star’s life. This series deals with short shots of backstage scenarios behind the filming.

The Feel-Good Part

Blended with the tension of filmmaking and comic instances, it offers a perfect dose of seriousness that goes behind putting up an engaging drama.

The Disappointing Factor

The time length of the episodes is too short. It could have been extended for a better portrayal of the behind-the-scenes.

In-Depth Analysis

Grace Karnklao Duaysienklao’s sincere acting skills are not easily avoidable to watch. Every episode shows her focus and hard work as the lead character, trying to put her all into the drama. It captures her struggle with gaining perfection for the character. Amidst these, it conveys how she reacts to intimate scenes and brushes them off like a pro. She pulls off both Noona and Nadia’s roles with ease. Even though, it remains a question why she plays both the character. Despite being twins, one is a transgender woman while the other is a cis person. Nevertheless, it explains the professional boundaries of performers and actors.

Luke Ishikawa Plowden’s efforts of fulfilling the character of a cop and a drag queen at the same time are enthralling. The mini-scenes show how his strokes finally paid off in the drama. It encapsulates ways he brought out the character developments with talent and portrayed the comic moments hilariously. Even though his character could have passed as a transgender man, acting like a transwoman, stereotypically, seemed unnecessary. Despite whatever reasons, he pulled it off well. These episodes offer to pave the way into the life of actors lying between characters and themselves and how they work offscreen. As a lead character, Luke not only has to focus on himself but also on his co-actors. It is similar to other actors. They act proficiently and fluently while being patient in case of interruptions.

The supporting cast worked beautifully and established depth in the characters. They highlighted the intensity of the situation. Guy Sivakorn Lertchuchot’s role of Decha was intense. The scene he retakes to give the best to bring out the villainous expression proves the actor’s integrity in portraying the characters. Pingpong Thongchai Thongkanthom’s portrayal of Pla and Too’s dual nature deserves applause. The monologue part was so breathtaking that the director might have forgotten to say ‘cut’.

Star Power

Grace Karnklao Duaysienklao plays the role of Noona and Nadia. Alongside her, Luke Ishikawa Plowden acts as Prabsuek, the police officer. Jennie Pahan’s performance as Honey is overwhelming as usual. Victor Chatchawit Techarukpong’s role as Tanu, Kootee Aramboy as Bambi and A Aanan Boonnak as Tanya are some exhilarating performances. This behind-the-scenes prove how the crew did well for the drama to become a success.

Overall Opinion

Even though the drama carries some minor flaws, it voices the beauty of drag and its artistic rendition. It might be a great addition if you are looking for some hilarious and crime-filled punch.
