Drama Digest

This Korean drama tells the story of friendship between the two female leads and how they handle their lives together. When both women meet at their workplaces, a mutual understanding sparks between them and binds them for life.

The feel-good part

The major positive about the drama is portraying pure friendship between two people of the same gender without making it romantic. All the characters in the drama are cute and charming, especially the two female leads. The poster of the drama is also that of the two leads, which is appreciated, as most of dramas use only the main couple’s image on their drama posters.

The disappointing factor

Though sweet, there are a lot of unnecessary explicit scenes in the drama. In some parts, the drama normalized toxic behaviour, which was disturbing to watch. There is some sort of stereotypical behaviour in the drama too, which makes it illogical and kind of unacceptable. The drama disappointed in multiple ways.

In-depth analysis

The first female lead of the drama, Cha Mi Ji, is a journalist by profession. She had been reporting for a current affairs magazine for the last five years, but an unfortunate incident caused it to shut down. Due to this reason, Minji has joined a new magazine company called ‘New normal Zine.’ Her position at the job is that of a features editor. Minji is a good-looking and intelligent, but likes to live a slow life. Despite her hectic job as a journalist, she chooses to live a slow-paced life that annoys the people around her. Some even adore her for this reason. There she ends up meeting her new boss, Song Ro Ji. Both are familiar with each other because they joined the parent company simultaneously. But Roji is the complete opposite of Minji. She is organized, strict, and recognized for her excellent work. Due to her personality and intelligence, she became the youngest editor-in-chief of her company. As of the current times, Minji finds it hard to adjust to the company. As it was a new job for her, everything, including the people, the pressure, and the pace of the job was new and drastic. Minji and Roji are quite annoyed by each other at the beginning. As both were complete opposites, it was hard for one to adjust to the other. But as time passes, things get better between them. Both start helping and understanding each other a lot more. Soon, they become best friends. In the office, they end up meeting a lot of people and making a lot of friends. They also meet two men who turn out to be their romantic interests later in the show. Add first, the story is about the survival of Minji in her new company, but later, the focus of the story becomes the unbreakable bond of friendship between the two female leads.

Star power

One of the main male characters, Do Bohyun, is played by the infamous Jang Eui Soo, a renowned actor, especially for his roles in multiple Boys’ love series.’ In this series, we see Euisoo in a different and exciting role.

Overall opinion

The show is not about the romance between the leads; instead it is about them helping each other, being there for each other all the time, being best friends, and cultivating many other relations on the road of life.
