Drama Digest

“Hope or Dope” is originally a Korean drama series released in 2022. The story revolves around Kyung Da Jung, an 18 years old and in her final year of High School. Instead of letting her concentrate on her schooling, her mother uses her as a drug mule and lets her transport narcotics to drug gangs. And if she fails the task, her mother uses violence against her. But unfortunately, one drug deal course is wrong, and she ran away and took refuge in a deep village in the South Korean countryside. But in the village, she discovered a cultivated marijuana field. She gets ideas that can bring her lots of money in the black market and is tempted to do something with them. But soon they face the reality of Kyung Da Jung’s world as police investigators surface there.

The Feel-Good Part

The storyline is like the previous season but with a new negative character. The flashbacks of the prior season were shown excellently, and it does not overshadow the main plot. It was a beautiful pickup from where the first season left. The plot was tense enough to let the viewers continue. The episodes were short and did not stretch enough to make them boring.

The Disappointing Factor

In this season, the story was predictable. The Romance part had not much to offer. The romance they included in this season was just a waste of potential because it was underdeveloped.

In-Depth Analysis

In the village, Kyung Da Jung meets Goong Yoon Tak, who is in an ordinary High School with his friends and family. She becomes friends with him and the others-Goong Yoon Jae, Kim Kook Hee, and Hong Ae Ran. Her life has changed from being peaceful to being chaotic once. She had a perfect chance of spending the rest of her teenage at peace. But then the group discusses a carefully cultivated field of marijuana growing outside the village. This event changes all of their lives suddenly. Kyung Da Jung, previously a drug dealer, couldn’t resist her urge to take advantage of it. She introduces her friends to the world of drugs and crime. They fall into difficulties, but they overcome them when a new set of obstacles is set for them again.

Star Power

Yoon Chan Young, who played Gong Yoon Tak, delivered praiseworthy acting. Won Ji An plays the lead character of Kyung Da Jung gracefully. The acting of the whole cast was natural.

Overall Opinion

Overall, the show provides all the elements that are mentioned. This is a continuation of the previous season and perfectly ends it. The show‘s theme includes high school drama and crime which are fascinating to watch. It is a short and entertaining show.
