Drama Digest

Heartbeat Broadcasting accident is a romantic mini-series in an office setting. It follows the story of Yoon Yi Seo, who joins a live sales commerce platform. Here she has to tackle the difficulties in her new work, but not without the help of her office colleagues. Her team at work also includes her first love unexpectedly. Thus, her romantic life is focused on where she must choose between her childhood crush and her friend, who she has known for the longest time.

The Feel-Good Part

It delivers what it claims to be. It is a sweet office romance, and the chemistry between the actors is good. Their relationship progresses, and you root for Yi Seo to do well, both at her job and romantic life. With a sweet ending, the lead pair portray the characters well. The production is quite good as well.

The Disappointing Factor

The series isn’t something unique or unexplored. It tends to use some of the apparent tropes used in general in Korean dramas. Hence, if you expect a new or refreshing storyline, this drama may not be for you.

In-Depth Analysis

Our main character Yoon Yi Seo is an employee at a live commerce platform. The web series portrays her daily life as she tries to keep up with her work requirements. She is a social media influencer but isn’t employed. She gets hired to sell items at a live platform akin to home shopping. Through the series, we meet some of her colleagues. Cha Seon Woo is the director of the platform, and Kwon Hyuk is Yi Seo’s longtime friend who helped her get this job. Han Yu Ra is another prominent character and has the same work profile as Yi Seo but, she has been working this job for longer. On the work front, you end up rooting for Yi Seo to have the best results in her new career. As with every other web series, there is a lack of time to touch upon every character’s background.

Mainly, it deals with the lead character’s relationship, and other characters end up relegated to tertiary characters. They become one toned, without any complexities. It leads to some of the characters becoming unlikable due to sticking to the typical antagonist framework. A case in point here is Han Yu Ra. And their relevance in the storyline is to assist in the lead-up to the romance of the lead characters. A love triangle is at the center of it all.

Star Power

The drama can be characterized as an idol drama as the cast’s lead have promoted or are still promoting as idols. Lim NaYoung plays Yoon Yi Seo and, SF9s Zuho plays Cha Seon Woo. It will be the first instance for both to play as leads even though they have acted in dramas before. Beside them, Lee Hyun Joo plays Han Yu Ra, and Jung Min Gyu portrays Kwon Hyuck.

Overall Opinion

It is a short office romantic comedy with a simple and entertaining storyline. Because of its short runtime, it is perfect for an easy weekend watch.
