Drama Digest

The drama revolves around the main lead Gye Sal Gu, a thirteen-year-old elementary school kid, a die-hard fan of Seo Han bin, a budding K-pop star. She is short of the pocket money that her parents give as she spends most of it buying Seo Han bin’s customized products. Gye Sal Gu wishes to earn more money. That is when a Wizard appears and gives her a magical account. The tab owner gets the money they want by just writing the checkbook amount, and cash falls off the sky. And that is when trouble starts to appear in her life.

The Feel-Good Part

Gye Sal Gu is the not-so-shy fangirling kid you already know or might hear of. She met Seo Han bin during his early struggling days in his career as a fan, and her obsession for him grew each day. The life she always wished to live becomes a reality when she gets the money, and we all can relate to it at some point. The relationship with her easy-going and fun-loving parents has earned a brownie point. Gye Sal Gu’s character alone is enough to keep you engaged without any close acquaintance plot, which you often see in most k-dramas.

The Disappointing Factor

It’s a typical plot where Gye Sal Gu is a not-so-popular poor kid fighting over the famous rich kid in her school. She gets portrayed as a solid and diligent personality who never stops her effort to achieve what she wants. When she gets the money from the wizard’s checkbook, she loses her only friend in school. Seo Han bin’s role as a pop star has a concise role wherein you would expect more of him in the drama.

In-Depth Analysis

It’s a feel-good drama that most of us could relate to. The characterization of school kids’ desires in life has gotten perfectly dramatized. The appearance of the wizard is a modern take on the Genie. The Gye Sal Gu’s transformation before and after meeting the wizard is imminent. The part where Gye Sal Gu meets Seo Han bin is so light-hearted and fresh. Seo Han bin plays the perfect K-pop star who is astonished by his fan’s level of commitment towards him. We wish there were more scenes of them together. The baseline of the story is good, and the end part is where she misses her parents and realizes the things that matter most in life.

Star Power

Seo Eun Sol has portrayed Gye Sal Gu’s character seamlessly, considering the entire plot revolves around her. Dylan’s effortless and subtle acting as Seo Han bin gets noted. The supporting characters also add a zest to the story.

Overall Opinion

A young girl’s picturization of desire, jealousy, humility, and realization gets well portrayed in this drama. If you are looking for a light-hearted short school drama, check this one; you will not be disappointed.
