Drama Digest
The story takes place in 2006 and revolves around a young girl named Sanada Rio, who lives in a country village where a murder takes place. Then the story skips to the present where Sanada Rio is taking the position of CEO of Sanada Wellness, a subsidiary of Sanada holdings, which is run by her mother.
Rio then accidentally becomes the main witness and prime suspect of a murder case that is somehow connected with the murder that happened 15 years ago. Many people are on Rio’s side but the detective is searching for the truth, given that Rio was his first love.
The Feel-Good Part
The drama is well written and very well executed. The director was able to keep the mystery at the bay and revealed one secret at a time. The mystery will keep you on your toes and it has enough thrill to be hooked onto the final episode.
The best part about the show is that even though Rio was Miyazaki Daiki’s, first love, the whole show is not driven by the romance aspect.
The Disappointing Factor
It is written above that the show is well written and well-executed but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any plot holes. There are some and there are some questions left unanswered.
In-Depth Analysis
It is a difficult task to make a show based on a true story when you have to get all the facts straight along with maintaining the mystery and storyline to keep the viewers intrigued. Well, the directors of this show were successful. Saiai or “Dearest” is a perfect blend of suspense, mystery, and thrill with a bit of romance. But it does not focus much on the romance part and both the main characters kept it professional when the situation called for it. all the main things are revealed one at a time and the drama was convincing in showing why some things are better kept a secret.
Star Power
The cast is exceptional. Every character is outstanding and played their part very well. The main roles as well as the supporting roles were excellent.
Overall Opinion
Despite having a few flaws, the drama is worth watching. If you are a fan of suspense and mystery, this one is for you.
