Drama Digest

Kare ga Boku ni Koishita Wake, translated as The Reason Why he Fell in Love with Me, starts in a scene where the pandemic is much prevalent in the life of high-school students. This immediately draws the attention of the viewers in a much relatable situation. However, we also learn that with the onset of the early pandemic, we see the subtle development of the romantic atmosphere between two teachers in the school. Hikawa Toru, who teaches Mathematics, finds his gaze on the PE teacher, Akagi Masashi. The romance between the two male teachers comes off as pretty natural, cute, and real as they happen to possess the exact opposite personality.

The suspense lies when the entire school, including the principal, came to learn about the romance in an incident when Akagi Masashi happen to kiss Hikawa.

The Feel-Good Part

The best part of the drama is how the scenes are so relatable, with the pandemic serving situation as the source of good character development. The movie is very light-hearted and cute, giving off the typical charm of romance and fun that we see in any high-school drama. It is also impressive to see the way how gay romance is seen in the most ordinary way that could melt the heart of the viewers. Besides, the actors are delightfully charming.

The Disappointing Factor

Some of the scenes are a little too fast to catch up with how the story evolves and that could potentially keep us wondering about the missing details in the story. The audio quality of the drama is not up to the standard and one can hear some distracting noises that probably comes from the background. It is made on a low budget, but overall, it’s still good enough to its level.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is a Japanese-style slapstick comedy that was shot in Japan. Although it was evident that it was shot on a tight budget amidst the pandemic, it is still worth the watch. Although the drama is not the usual romance between a girl and a boy but rather based on the gay love story, there was nothing awkward about it as the actors pull it off quite naturally in the portrayal of their character role.

Star Power

Yusuke Yamamoto, a Japanese actor, is already a very celebrated actor. He was born in Aichi, Japan. The drama is a suitable role for him beside the charming face.

Overall Opinion

The drama is something that takes one back and makes one feel nostalgic. It’s sheer enjoyment and delight to recommend it to anyone.
