Drama Digest

Shu defeats Wei using the crossbows, during the war between them. To accomplish this influential weapon, Wei sent several spies to infiltrate the Shu kingdom. Wei kingdom have been infiltrate by Shu spies Chen Gong and Xun Xu for many years. They decided to work separately, after knowing the Wei’s plan. Chen Gong stayed in Wei kingdom while Xun Xu went back to Shu kingdom. Xun Xu investigated in the Wei kingdom, in the mid of the investigaten, he discovers a thief of the crossbows, Mei Chong. A highly competent spy Zhu Long has also been found out, who is seized Shu kingdom. Zhu Long has been waiting for the recourse to initiate the Qing Ping plan. Xun Xu ad lib a strategy to hook Mei Chong. He used it as a chance to eradicate the spy hierarchy in Shu kingdom.

The production values are high. The action actions are well-versed. The drama is set in the Zhuge Liang’s northern expeditions. Neither Shu nor Wei had a clear advantage. The started with Zhuge Liang’s northern expedition being ineffective. That led General Ma Su’s decapitation for his disappointment to clench Jieting and Zhuge Liang’s bump. It permitted Li Yan who endorsed crusade against Wu instead of Zhuge Liang’s. Xun Xu is the most consequential miscalculations are with his loved ones. Chen Gong and Xun Xu don’t get the much screen time together. The storytelling masterfully builds up the plot twists and revelations. Being a heavy plot it does not succumb with unnecessary twists. The ending is tugging. The drama has a twisty plot that is complicated. The script hasn’t wasted time on unnecessary things.

Star Power

The drama is enhanced by the performances of the actors. Chen Gong’s character is cunning and ambivalent. In every scene he has dominated the screen. Every characters decision is characteristic. The casting is perfect and create charming vibes.

 Overall Opinion

This drama is an adaptation of the novel “The wind rises in Longxi” by Ma Bo Yong. This is an intricate spy thriller drama.
