What will they find along the way? Watch the drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

The show’s storyline is simple. It is a simple story about emancipation and wanting to clear your name but it has the fantasy elements of fox spirits and more. What makes the show so great is its ability to make the audience feel and care about each character deeply and understand what they go through. You can get deeply invested in the drama and the things that happen within the show and receive a great payoff at the end. There is no point in time when you feel bored or lose interest. The fantasy elements also happen to be the best part of the show. It gives us a detailed look into the legend of fox spirits and why they exist throughout Asian culture. The chemistry between actors is also great and allows for fun instances of bromance and friendship. It is a friendship that goes deeper than just their adventures, and it is light-hearted and wholesome.

The Disappointing Factor

Like most historical dramas, it suffers from a lack of cohesiveness. There is too much to keep up with, even with its simple plotline, and its historical setting does not make it easy for new viewers. The problem with historical dramas is the unfamiliarity of the environment, and historical fantasies add to that layer of difficulty. However, the show can manage most of these difficulties in a fun and exciting way and the ones that they are not able to control do feel quite noticeable. There is a slight sense of airbrushed quality that feels unnatural to the show’s visuals but you can overlook it. It is a minor concern but heavily reflected in the show’s promotional material and slightly trickles its way into the drama itself.

In-Depth Analysis

Fox Spirits in Asian mythology are often mischievous but do not necessarily mean any harm unless you harm them. This show takes a different approach and showcases a fox spirit who just wants to help and make a friend. It is a refreshing take on the fox spirit character that is fun to see. It is a promising premise that delivers a great story and a heartwarming friendship.
