Drama Digest

A special law enforcement task force sets out to hunt fugitives in foreign lands and bring justice. They work with the local police and other overseas law enforcement agencies with the help of the Chinese embassy in other countries. Gao Xiao Tian leads the team to solve cross-border cases. Based on true stories of Chinese police travelling abroad to solve crimes that affected the lives of mainland Chinese citizens, the show follows the task force members working 24/7 tirelessly in the interest of the people. They are assigned to protect national security by carrying out dangerous missions in foreign lands.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama brings out the talent, courage, and detective skills of the Chinese police. Unlike other dramas, which concentrate more on lazy and corrupt systems, this one shows the positive side of the police department realistically. The storyline is authentic and not too dramatic. The nerve-wracking plots and the excellent dynamics of the task force carry the show to a different level. Each member of the task force has their principles and purpose.

The Disappointing Factor

While watching the show, it seems perfect but yet something feels missing. The actor’s work could have been more highlighted with better cinematography. With 38 episodes, the show could have done more justice to the story. The OSTs don’t leave a long-lasting impression. The background scores should have been better to match the intensity of the scenes.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama has three separate stories, each set in different countries. Many compatriots in southeast China. Lin Guo Xiong, a Taiwanese native, is one of the key suspects and the members of the task force carry their mission in the Southeast Asian country to arrest this man. The police need two key witnesses to solve a high-profile case. The witnesses have fled to the US, and the task force is assigned to persuade them to return. The task force fight against two local gangs in South America that have been harming the properties of overseas Chinese. The drama shows the stories of each testifier. The cases get solved gradually as each testimony starts fitting in its place. The show brings out the challenges faced by the task force realistically.

Star Power

The drama has well-known actors. Wu Gang plays the role of Gao Xiao Tian. Ke Han is seen as Wu Sheng Nan. In the supporting roles, we see Li Ning as Song Cheng Gong, Simon Yam as Xiu A Rong, Faye Yu as Shi Ya Nan, and Shi Liang as Yin Zhi Hang. All the actors have done a fabulous job and brought flavour to the drama.

Overall Opinion

This drama is different from other Chinese dramas and is worth watching if the viewers are into suspense thrillers. The show keeps the hope that our system still has people who won’t let justice go the wrong way. The drama would have been a masterpiece with improvements here and there. The show does justice in showcasing the lives of the task force members most realistically.
