Drama Digest
Professional Single is about a young, hopeful sculptor, Qin Shen, and an aspiring painter, Yuan Qian. Qin Shen is fierce, bold, and determined to achieve his goal of being a professional sculptor. For this very reason, he goes to art school, where he meets Yuan Qian. Yuan Qian has the same determination to refine her art but isn’t as opposed to love as he is, though she does have very high standards. This story then divulges how Qin Shen and Yuan Qian, with their friends, embark on a journey of self-discovery while finding love in between.
The Feel-Good Part
In terms of the storyline, acting, and production, this is one of the best romantic Chinese dramas. The storyline aroused everyone’s interest as it was straightforward and delightful. The tropes are done very well too. The chemistry among the characters is phenomenal. Therefore, the central focus is on the main couple and their love story, and there are no distracting sub-plots or secondary characters.
The Disappointing Factor
The drama was slow-paced, which may not be to everyone’s liking. The entertaining love triangle, which kept us excited in the beginning, got tiring in the end. At times the storyline becomes particularly predictable.
In-Depth Analysis
This story is a straightforward, delightful, funny university romance between Qin Shen and Yaun Qian during their progression of self-discovery and academic advancement. The female lead is a very confident, optimistic, determined, and outgoing girl who draws people to her with her bubbly personality, in contrast to the male protagonist, who is a perfectionist who’s very blunt and straightforward. This drama proceeds with the story of how these two polar opposite people fall in love and come to terms with their newfound feelings.
Star Power
All the cast members, especially Ireine Song, played their characters very well, transforming a generic plot into a beautiful one.
Overall Opinion
If you want something light and predictable yet with a romantic plot that doesn’t require much time or emotional investment, then this one is definitely for you!
