Drama Digest

‘Out of the Dream’ is an adaptation of a novel called “Meng Jian Shi Zi” penned by Xiao Hu Ru Wei. It tells the love story between two people working in the artistic field. This drama looks at their love story and times they clash about their way of thinking, principles, and attitude towards life and theatre. And how they overcome hurdles and difficulties that come their way as they try to achieve their dreams.

The Feel-Good Part

The chemistry of the lead characters is impressive. They help each other and support each other to reach their dreams. And through the time spent together, they grow as people and artists. For anyone trying to fulfill their goals or are in the field of artistic expression, this series will be relatable. There are quite a few ups and downs in the story, making viewers root for the characters. They meet and separate time and again due to circumstances, making one attached to the couple’s fate. It showcases the behind-the-scenes work that goes into plays and how a theatre functions. And the cosplay and other cultural aspects of Peking opera and Chinese plays are portrayed in the drama. The cinematography is beautiful, and it is a warm romantic story. It focuses on the character’s zeal as they work for their dreams and heal from a sad and hurtful past.

The Disappointing Factor

The pacing at parts of the drama may feel rushed or too slow. That may lead to confusion about certain aspects of the storyline.

In-Depth Analysis

Yu Fie is a pecking opera performer who is passionate about her job. However, she sadly loses her job at the opera. But is passionate about her career and tries to be back on her feet again. Bai Fei Li is a producer and founder of a theatre. He wishes to cast an actress that has experience in Pecking opera or from that background. They cross paths while he is trying to find an appropriate candidate, but they are separated in sad circumstances. When they meet each other later, they try to reconnect with some help from their families. The story retains its focus on the romantic relationship of the leads. But what new aspect this drama brings to the table is the traditional opera and play scenes on screen. And sometimes wholly merging the storytelling from a typical drama style into a stage play format. And it uses classic plays to express the character’s emotions in some episodes and pushes the story forward.

Star Power

Chen Yu Si portrays Yu Fei, and Yao Chi plays Bai Fei Li. Their chemistry and performance were remarkable and complimented each other.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this drama does its best to encapsulate the story of two people trying to realize their dreams. And doing so by their continuous tries combined with the reliance on people you love and trust.
