Drama Digest
Feng Xiaoqin and Gu Qingyu are sisters- in- law. The story revolves around the urge of Feng Xiaoqin to own a home and how both of the sisters- in- law are engaged in a mini-war with each other from the day Feng entered the Gu family. Unfortunately, Gu Lei(brother of Gu Qingyu & husband of Feng Xiaoqin) dies, and the burden on Feng’s shoulders starts to pile up. The Feel-Good Part
The best part of the drama lies where they are capable to feature the life of two strong ladies who live in ironic situations. One among them having a high educational background, and the other having to work hard to earn her means of living because she is an ordinary housewife. It also helped to shift the focus of the audience on the pressures of the urban society and shines it’s light on the life of ordinary Chinese families.
The Disappointing Factor
The fact that disappoints many is the same cliché part that involves girls in their thirties who cannot marry. Moreover, romance is also flat. There are some parts where the drama doesn’t even concentrate on the relationships between the duo.
In-Depth Analysis
The series has been derived from a novel of the same name i.e.’ Life is a long quite river’ by Teng Xiaolan. The two characters displayed teach the different types of women in the society, and the plus point is that many could easily relate it to their life. They both have their own problems in life and can get the attention and sympathy of the viewers. The heightened pain of one doesn’t nullify the other’s pain.
Star Power
The actors’ Hai Qing playing the character of Feng Xiaoqin, and Tong Tao, playing Gu Qing Yu, have done a marvelous job of showcasing their character. Their performance was worth it. The other prominent side roles supported and backed up the story meticulously.
Overall Opinion
The series mainly focuses on the tenderness, warmth, and kindness of human nature. There are points where we see how they endure pain, but sooner or later, it passes away, and new dawn arrives in everyone’s lives. It focuses more on how the characters change when they are faced with unexpected things in their life.
