Drama Digest

The drama tells the story of three troubled youths, Li Jian Jian, Ling Xiao, and He Zi Qiu, who all grew up in dysfunctional households. Li Jian Jian’s mother died when she was young and she now lives just with her father, Li Hai Chao. One day, a young Ling Xiao along with his family, moves in as her neighbor. However, the family has a tragic past of their own, because of which Ling Xiao’s mother abandons him and his father Ling He Ping. The two broken households develop a bond as both the kids become friends. Later, Li Hai Chao dates single mother, Yuan Ran, who abandons her son, He Zi Qiu, into his care. Therefore; due to their shared experiences, the kids treat each other as a family despite not being related by blood. Their immense yearning for love, which their home couldn’t satisfy, is quenched via each other. They discover solace in one another and try being the best family they can be, with Li Jian Jian being the youngest sister, He Zi Qiu being the second brother, and Ling Xiao being the eldest brother. The three of them grow up together, search for joy, and help each other through the challenges of life. They are always there for each other. Until; Ling Xiao and He Zi Qiu graduate, and the situations somewhat force them to return to their real families. Li Jian Jian is devastated. However; nine years later, they are reunited. Ling Xiao is now a Dentist, while He Zi Qiu is a pastry chef and Li Jian Jian is a famous sculptor. Although grown up and mature, their broken inner self still remains rigid. Will they truly be able to fix each other and attain their best self?

The Feel-Good Part

The drama is simply perfect, and everything about it is extraordinary. Hence; picking just one or a few good parts would rather be tough. From; the characters to the storyline, everything is impeccable. Every character has its own, personal story, a struggle, and trauma through which they will steal your heart. You will empathize and connect with the characters right from the start. The bonding between the three siblings or between Li Hai Chao and Ling He Ping will captivate you. The drama is delightful as it explores in-depth, true human nature. The dialogues are like some high-quality quotations which you will cherish for life. Furthermore, the humour is spectacular. Scenes like the one where Li Jian Jian proudly announces her periods to her fathers and brothers while they sit there in utter embarrassment will make you burst into laughter. Also, an honourable mention to the exquisite OST; it will beautifully break your heart. Even after you are done watching, when someday you play this OST, it will bring back the entire memories in a minute, and you will find an oblivious tear flowing down your eye.

The Disappointing Factor

It is one of those flawless dramas which have nothing going wrong with it. Thus; I doubt the show has any disappointing factor. Nevertheless; if I still will have to pick something, then it might be the part where He Zi Qiu misinterprets his emotions and desires to marry Li Jian Jian. The part feels slightly inessential and might even scare you to death as you sit with your heart in your mouth – praying that may this not shatter their relationship. Something else, which isn’t disappointing but rather something you wouldn’t like, will be Ling Xiao’s step-sister Qin Mei Ying. She might repeatedly get on your last nerve. It isn’t just about dislike; instead, she is kind of annoying and not quite crucial for the story.

In-Depth Analysis

Personally, it’s one of the best dramas I have ever watched. Everything about it is just perfect. The drama is a total roller coaster ride. It will make you smile, laugh, cry and whatnot. It is not a mere drama; it’s rather a story that unravels the enigma of life. It depicts life itself. It is the perfect balance of all the emotions and teaches you the real secrets of life and relationships. The drama covers every theme, from family, love, moving on, patience, empathy, courage, compassion to fear of abandonment. It is a complete package. However, despite having such a strong emotionally solid segment, the drama still has an excellent comic side too. The humour will leave your stomach hurting, whereas the innocence and genuineness of the characters will melt your heart.

Star Power

‘The cast did an outstanding job’ will definitely be an understatement. They were good beyond words. ‘Tan Songyun’ does a remarkable job of portraying the innocence and optimism of Li Jian Jian. While, I don’t think anyone else could have successfully done the role of the – stern on the outside, yet highly affectionate and caring on the inside – eldest brother Ling Xiao except ‘Song Weilong.’ His charisma will charm you effortlessly. Not to forget, frisky and jolly He Zi Qiu played with utmost playful magnificence by ‘Zhang Xincheng.’ He might often enchant you more than the rest. The adorable bickering of ‘Tu Songyan’ and ‘Zhang Xilin’ will remind you of some sweet senior married couple. Other than this, supporting actors like ‘He Rui Xian’ and ‘Sun Yi’ also add to the humour and drama.

Overall Opinion

Honestly, it’s a drama that has the, ‘Once in a lifetime’ type of perfection. I really adore it, and if it were on me, I would even force people to watch it. The fact is this show is incredible and indeed worth it. It is a whole package with overwhelming emotions. You will not even once regret spending your time on it. It is instead the type of drama you will feel like re-watching every time you mention it (Just how I am going to go re-watch it now). You will love it; therefore (I strongly suggest) you should watch this masterpiece.
