Drama Digest

Yan Po Yue is a gifted high school student who excels at practically everything. He is the descendant of a long line of soldiers. He joins the military to prove his worth to his father. Despite achieving great performance during his training, he was unable to gain the approval of his superiors. He also struggled to fit in with his new team. He was assigned to the kitchen staff, where he encountered a variety of people with hidden skills. He chooses to try out for the army’s Special Forces selection, but he quickly realises that he is lacking in many areas, so he gets by with the support of his colleagues.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama has depicted what it’s like to be a soldier in great depth and accuracy. The male lead had to undergo a significant transformation, from striving to rise to the top solely on his own strength to recognising the value of teamwork and relying on others. His relationship with his father, his complicated past, and his PTSD from serving in the military were just a few of the many difficulties he had to deal with. The entire content was quite fascinating and covered a variety of interesting topics. It was also pleasing to note the lack of needless fillers.

The Disappointing Factor

Despite having 45 episodes, only 2 realistic missions were discussed and depicted in the series. The drug cartel expedition could have been the end of the story, but instead it shifts to how the Special Forces were sent to receive leadership training. We were unable to observe their acceptance of the significance of the teachings they shared. The conclusion appeared a little hurried.

In-Depth Analysis

It was exciting to watch each and every episode. The military set up included numerous unexpected moments that gave the audience the impression that they were genuinely in a combat zone. As a brand-new military recruit, Yan Po Yue’s development is shown, as well as how he manages his PTSD following his first killing as a soldier, losing his colleagues, and feeling bad about being the survivor. His personality was complex and has a strong sense of conviction. You start to wonder how any of this genuinely occurs because it accentuates the drama’s authenticity so severely. There were sequences that demonstrated the training that recruits had to go through in order to maintain their composure and increase their shooting accuracy.

Star Power

Yang Yang brought his character to life and was very immersed in his role adn captivated the audience. Jiang Lu Xia who played Guo Xiao Xiao had very realistic training, missions and fighting scenes.

Overall Opinion

An exciting drama that does a good job of depicting military life authentically.
