Drama Digest:

This drama revolves around a cute and excellent cook Chi Xionian. Nian had a handsome boyfriend, and she cared and loved him. The boyfriend cheats on Nian as she finds him in an intimate position with another girl. Nian gets to find out about this when she surprises him with a specially made lunchbox. Just then, Nian’s childhood friend (Li Zhen Ning) cum annoyer, extends a helping hand and promises her to make her boyfriend feel jealous. Though he was a troublemaker to her in their younger days, he tries to get Nian to gain confidence in herself. The following story explores the chances of Ning remaining to be a contract boyfriend or become a real boyfriend of her, along with some delicious delicacies by Nian.

The Feel-Good Part:

The scenes about their younger days show the actual ‘childhood love’ between them. The funny instances of her childhood where he never allowed the possible naughty plans to be successful were relatable. When he took the awkward times of her and made the caring boyfriend ones were undoubtedly cute. Also, in the scene where he tries cooking, he realizes that every task that is not easy is good.

The Disappointing Factor:

The jealousy factor was the only driving reason for her to get a contract boyfriend, and that felt to be a bit old-fashioned. A few of the intended comic instances weren’t that funny.

 In-Depth Analysis:

The fundamental societal notion of only the women belonging to the kitchen was addressed on an average level. It shows more evidently shown when her parents share the duties in the kitchen. Girls being right is always promoted, but here we find the girl lead trying hard and making mistakes which makes it more relatable. The caring and loving nature of the girlfriend’s side was also shown other than the boyfriend. Food was undoubtedly given importance, as the title suggests, and the preparation scenes were mouth-watering. The childhood friendship or companionship is undoubtedly very much connecting, and this makes the couple share so many lovely moments.

Star Power:

Hong Yi Ke has made the character adorable, and like it is a female lead drama, her work was wonderful. Li Zhen Ning is charming and was apt for the role too. The supporting actors also have done an excellent job.

Overall Opinion:

The main attraction of the show is undoubtedly the short duration which is of 10 minutes. The show has no deep intimate scenes, and this awakens the old, shy romance times in our minds. One can see a perfect blend of friendship and romance beautifully. With little laughs and love for food, the show is certainly a one-time watch for sure. I would personally want to give it 7.5 /10.
