K-dramas are taking the world by a storm, and all K-drama fans are fascinated by the actors and actresses who bring their characters to life so well, so naturally. These actors have made our hearts flutter and made us feel as if we are a part of their world. We are going to talk about ten singers who turned actors in the South Korean entertainment industry, today.
1. IU
If you love Kdrama as much as I do, you must have watched Hotel Del Luna, The Producers, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Were you fascinated by the crazy yet lovable Jang Man-wol as much as I was? The actress who brought this character to life is a famous K-pop singer and songwriter. She has taken the heart of her fans by storm since her debut in 2008. She is as great a singer-songwriter as she is an actress.
2. Bae Suzy
You are probably very familiar with her name if you watched Vagabond, While you were sleeping, Uncontrollably Fond and Start-up. Suzy has brought her characters to life in all dramas and movies. Her acting was so phenomenally natural that sometimes while watching a drama of hers, we would get sucked into it, and believe her to be Nam Hong Ju (While You Were Sleeping), Seo Dal Mi (Start-Up), Go Hae Ri (Vagabond), and not Suzy. However, many don't know that she debuted in the Chinese-Korean girl group Miss A. She had dominated the charts with her pre-release Pretend.
3. Ok Taecyeon
If you watched Vincenzo, you probably know who I am talking about, the psychopathic villain whom you hate yourself for loving so much. He probably stole your heart in Secret Royal Inspector & Joy, Bring It On, Ghost, and all other dramas and movies he has starred in. But unless you are a fan of K-pop you probably don’t know that he is a member of the boy band 2PM. Taecyon’s Can you feel my heartbeat dance step in 2PM’s Heartbeat made all his fans’ hearts go wild.
4. Krystal
Be it Police University, Heirs, The Bride of Habaek, or My Lovely Girl, Krystal has brought all her characters to life. All the characters she portrayed showed her strength as a mature actor, but did you know that she is a great singer? She debuted as a part of the girl band f(x). She has been part of other bands as well.
5. Cha Eun Woo
Were you team Seo Joon or Team Su Ho? If you were team Su Ho all the way through the drama, True Beauty, then you surely know who I am talking about. Be it True Beauty, My ID is Gangnam Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung or Sweet Revenge; he made all our hearts flutter with his smile and brought butterflies to our stomachs. But did you know that he has won hearts as a singer as well? He is a member of the boy band Astro.
6. Joy
She starred in Tempted, The One and Only, and The Liar and His Lover. Her acting skills made her make a mark in the hearts of K-drama lovers. She, however, is also a member of the girl group, Red Velvet.
7. D.O.
His role as the amnesiac prince in the drama 100 Days My Prince will be a favorite of mine for a long time, and if you have watched it, I am guessing that’s the case for you too. He was phenomenal in My Annoying Brother and Unforgettable. He is a talented singer and is one of the main vocalists of the boy band Exo.
8. Yoona
She won our hearts as the angelic An-na in The K2. She also caught attention with her roles in The Miracle, Exit, and Love Rain. She is a great singer and debuted as a member of the girl band Girls’ Generation which was a worldwide sensation and now on hiatus as the members are focusing on Solo activities.
9. Park Hyung Sik
He recently starred in Happiness and made us fall in love with his character Jung Yi Hyun. His phenomenal acting skills showcased in Strong girl Bong-soon, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, and Heirs has won our hearts. But he is also a well-known singer and part of ZE:A.
10. Rowoon
After watching The King’s Affection, I guess we all have to agree that if Jung Ji won was our teacher we would go to school everyday. He gave us butterflies in the stomach as Ha Ru (Extraordinary You), Cha Hyun Seung (She Would Never Know) and many more characters. He is also a famous singer, and member of the boy band SF9.
