1. BTS

Bangtan Boys or popularly known as BTS is the most influential boyband in and out of South Korea. They were selected and formed in 2010, but they debuted in 2013 under the then called Big Hit Entertainment which is now known as Hybe Labels. They cover the genres K-pop, pop, hip hop, R&B and have seven members named Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

 

2. BlackPink

The girl band is under the entertainment company named YG Entertainment, and has four members named Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa. They had debuted in 2016 with a hit named Whistle in their single album by the name Square One, and Boombayah became a worldwide hit.

 

3. Hyun-Jin Ryu 

He is a professional baseball pitcher for South Korea and plays for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball or commonly known as MLB. He was earlier a part of MLB for Los Angeles Dodgers and in KBO league he played for Hanhwa Eagles. He is also the first Korean pitcher to start in a World Series game.

 

4. Son Heung-Min 

He is a South Korean professional in football, who is currently playing as a forward for Premier League club named Tottenham Hotspur and is also the captain of the South Korea’s national team. He is known to be one of the best footballers of Asian origin and descent to have played recently.

 

5. Lim Young-Woong

A trot singer, youtuber and entertainer is one of the biggest influencers in South Korea. He is signed with Mulgogi Music back in 2016 and had debuted as a singer in 2016, with the song “Hate You.” But his major rise to fame was competing in the entertainment show named Mr. Trot where he won.

 

6. Kwang-Hyun Kim

He is the left-handed South Korean pitcher of the MLB team St. Louis Cardinals. He had played in KBO for SK Wyverns. He had first become MVP in 2004 where he led his team to victory in the first ever national championship, as he pitched four-consecutive complete game victories in the entire tournament.

 

7. Yoo Jae-Suk 

Many people might have seen him in reality shows and yes, he is a comedian, host and an eminent television personality, he has hosted a variety of shows in South Korea called Running Man, Infinite Challenge, Happy Together and Hangout with yoo. 8. Young Tak 

He is a singer, songwriter and an eminent television personality. He had made his debut back in 2017 with his album named Young Tak Disia. He has also had a special appearance in the K-drama Kkondae Intern and TV Show Chosun’s Kingmaker: The change of Destiny.

 

9. Jung Dong-Won 

He is a child trot singer in South Korea who is also known to be a prodigy given that he is really talented and famous for his age. He has just turned fourteen and as born on March 19th, 2007. He has made several appearances and shared his love for music and how he has been singing from the age of 7.

 

10. Jang Yoon-Jeong 

She is a South Korean trot singer who had debuted a while ago, in 1999 with her single named Eomeona! (translates to Oh My Goodness in English), and it became an instant hit. In 2017, she was third most popular singer in the country according to a poll done by Gallup. She makes appearances often on KBS 1TV “Golden Oldies.”
