Anime Digest

Kou Yamori is a typical middle schooler who finds it difficult to understand the nuanced idea of love. He quickly quits attending school since he doesn’t see any use in conforming to the standard. Kou starts to wander the lonely streets at night after developing insomnia as a result of his inactivity. One night, Kou meets a strange girl by the name of Nazuna Nanakusa, who thinks that people remain awake at night because they are unhappy with their day and can’t sleep until they let go of their inhibitions. Kou is invited to Nazuna’s house, where she offers to help him with his sleeping problems and persuades him to sleep on her futon. Kou, who feels uneasy, simply pretends to sleep, but then Nazuna bites his neck and reveals herself to be a vampire! Kou believes that the bite would change him into a vampire, but the process of changing is more complicated than that. He has to be bitten by someone he genuinely loves in order to change. Kou, who is prepared to leave his dull mortal existence behind, makes the decision to pursue Nazuna and turn into a vampire.

The Feel-Good Part

The backdrops are fantastic; instead of the obnoxious fuzzy backgrounds you frequently see in anime, you get to view the city and sky in a range of breathtaking hues. People have said that the mood or feel of the show is peaceful, but that won’t rescue the entire series. The directing style truly plays a wonderful role in it, and the OSTs are honestly pretty fantastic.

The Disappointing Factor

However, watching these two is almost like watching Ishida and Orihime in the Soul Society arc, where there was no chemistry because of how different in personality they were from each other. Not arguing that “opposites attract” makes it less painful to watch the most minimal of their interactions, and the same happens in this series between Kou and Nazuna.

In-Depth Analysis

This drama follows Kou Yamori, who’s a typical middle schooler. He goes to school as usual, but there is one thing that confuses him, and that is how everyone around him is in love with someone else. He does not believe or understand how love works. After going through all this, he decides to quit school because he comes to the conclusion that there is no use conforming to the standards of the world. One day, he is walking through the streets because he is unable to sleep due to insomnia as a result of his lack of activity and other factors. While he was wandering on the streets, he encountered a girl who introduced herself as Nazuna Nanakusa and who was quite strange to him on his first meeting with her. She holds the opinion that those who are awake at night are dissatisfied with their days and are unable to go to sleep unless they lose their inhibitions. She then invites him to her house. Though he feels uneasy, he tries to overcome his awkwardness and get over his sleeping problems by pretending to sleep. Then she bites him, due to which she is revealed to be a vampire. Kou is under the impression that the bite would turn him into a vampire, but the procedure is more involved than that. To change, he must be bitten by someone he actually loves. Kou decides to seek out Nazuna and become a vampire since he is willing to give up his boring mortal life.

Star Power

The characters are all good in their own way, but at times they seem to lack appeal and charm, which ultimately drags the show down, and the emotions that they portrayed were not good in any sense.

Overall Opinion

Skipping out on this anime would be a wise decision, rather than focusing on whether to watch it or not.
