Anime Digest

In modern times, a demon named Neil Bowman leaves Hell in order to see the human world and starts living in All Saints Street of Beijing. But he discovers that his roommates are not humans but mythological creatures. Find out the demon’s adventures in this short yet sweet show.

The Feel-Good Part

The smooth animation and cartoony art style provide a sense of comic relief to the show. Each of the roommates is a completely unique and weird character. They are simply adorable. A lot of stereotypes, attached to different kinds of characters, are portrayed playfully. The main attraction is all the clever and humorous interaction between the characters, which also drives the plot further. And, all the crazy antics from each of the roommates are a joy to experience.

The Disappointing Factor

The most obvious factor is the short runtime of the show. Only 4-5 minutes are not enough to build the audience’s connection with the characters. The music is average, though it is not expected that comic shows have beautiful music. Also, cliffhangers are overused in the show, which may sometimes irritate the audience.

In-Depth Analysis

The show is a bunch of short stories, with a loose sense of chronology and an impending threat of a doom in future. Each episode begins with a flash forward and ends with a cliffhanger. It is all about the crazy quirky antics from each of the roommates. The overall simplistic art style provides a weird comic theme to the show, which justifies the events that occur in the story.

Star Power

Haiquing Xia plays the character of Neil Bowman very sincerely and gives the vocal expressions that actually set Neil Bowman apart from other characters. Other characters were given nice voices too like Jiven Teng for Ira Blood’s character and Yanyan Xi for Lily Angel’s character.

Overall Opinion

Each episode is just a snippet of a story with no deep storyline to the show. If you are looking for a fun, yet quick little show with cute characters and witty interactions, then this show will not disappoint you.
