Drama Digest

The citizens of Salutania have lived in the shroud of miasma, which is a force that brings to light the monsters that create havoc. This has been this way since the ancient times. The kingdom’s Order of Knights become incapable of handling the monsters, which then calls for The Grand Magus to obliterate the creatures to restore peace. Sei Takanashi gets pulled in the magical world one evening after a long day of work. After her arrival she overhears the Grand Magus had summoned two saints-one being Sei and the other being a different girl. The other girl is declared the holy maiden since there was only one required, which then leaves Sei to her own devices. She then focuses on studying potions and herbs in the Medical Flora Institution. As she focuses on her new life, she is blissfully unaware of the influence the aptitude being a Saint will have on her future.

The Feel-Good Part

The characters of the show are well-written and extremely likeable, which has the ability of pulling viewers into the story almost immediately. Sei’s character grows remarkably well throughout the show. Her development feels natural and organic. It is quite easy to get invested in her journey through the magical world. The side characters she meets along the way add so much flavour to the show. They are treated with importance and given fulfilling storylines, which is really great to see. The show is light-hearted and feel-good for the most part, which also makes it quite easy to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

The story is pretty cliché and doesn’t stray away from the common plot-points of this genre, which makes it predictable and may make it boring to watch. The story is paced slowly, which may make it hard for some viewers to watch at the beginning. The world-building is lacking in a lot of places. This is quite disappointing as the fantasy element hasn’t been used to its potential. The animation is quite generic and provides the audience with nothing but the basics to work with, which is wasted potential for a shoujo anime series.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is a package of action, romance with sprinkles of humour that make it the perfect show to binge over a couple of days. The emotional scenes land very well because the characters are easy to root for. The series is nothing special; it takes its concepts and tries to execute it well, which they have delivered for the most part. Despite its shortcomings, it is a sweet and enjoyable show that is easy-going and doesn’t require much investment from the audience, in terms of time and emotions.

Star Power

All the performances were excellent. The actors playing the side characters must be appreciated for their ability to hold the series together in a way that doesn’t overshadow the leads, yet provides the audience with a memorable performance.

Overall Opinion

The Saint’s Magic is Omnipotent is definitely a show worth giving a shot. It falters in very few places that are easy to overlook because it is overall pretty entertaining.
