Drama Digest

Four years after the release of Shirobako, Aoi Miyamori, a producer at Musashino Animation, was busy with her usual difficulties at work. She is then assigned a theatrical anime project after a meeting. While being unsure of the project due to the addition of unanticipated problems, she encounters a new co-worker named Kaede Miyai. Will they be able to accomplish the project without any more hurdles? Watch the movie to get the answer!

The Feel-Good Part

The movie has phenomenal animation and sound effects. The plot is almost musical with all those soundtracks. The designs are very artistic. The portrayal of real-life challenges while making any kind of visual media is powerful. Even though the movie is a sequel, it can be watched without watching the previous series and yet understand the context.

The Disappointing Factor

Although the movie focuses on the difficulty of making an anime afresh, it doesn’t show the importance of time in making an anime. The movie takes a lot of time to introduce the characters. There are also too many characters to comprehend. The movie’s pace is not consistent throughout, which makes the viewers miss the essential parts of it. The script is not up to the expectations and is a bit unsatisfying.

In-Depth Analysis

The movie focuses on the realistic approach to the anime industry. It portrays the difficulties faced by the creators of an anime, even in real life. It makes the viewers realize that even if they don’t have the passion for the given project, they hold onto it and complete it. It conveys that the artists do their best to make the anime of high quality. Their dedication to their project is notable. Moreover, the main cast led by females shows that they are no less in creating animes. Although the sequel didn’t seem required, it gives the happiness to be able to spend more time with Aoi Miyamori and the others.

Star Power

The voice acting of the main cast by Juri Kimura as Aoi Miyamori, Haruka Yoshimura as Ema Yasuhara, Haruka Chisuga as Shizuka Sakaki, Hitomi Ōwada as Midori Imai and Asami Takano as Misa Toudou is excellent.

Overall Opinion

Shirobako movie is perfect for those searching for a slice-of-life plot with stunning music and animation.
