Anime Digest

Log Horizon is an anime adapted from the light novel series of the same name by Mamare Touno. It follows a bunch of Japanese gamers who get transported to the world of their favorite game after its latest update. The main character Shiroe, an awkward young adult in real life, is a veteran of the game and immediately starts to explore this new reality. The third season of the series, Log Horizon: Entaku Houkai, focuses on how Shiroe and his companions have been stuck at Akiba for a year because of the Catastrophe that took place last season. They have forged a Round Table at Akiba, bringing law and order to the land and prosperity to its citizens. However, ever-changing fragile political alliances and the permanent danger from the Genius monsters threaten to destroy their peace and everything they have built and achieved. We see the characters struggle to persevere in these trying times and as strive to restore faith and fight the destruction that looms ahead of them.

The Feel Good Part

Isekai anime shows have been very trendy in Japan in recent years. However, the genre has become oversaturated, and most end up following the same cliched storylines and staple characters. Log Horizon sets itself apart from the usual oeuvre of the isekai series through its focus on political struggle- this is very evident in the third season. The characters’ ruthless strife for power in this fantasy world is as intriguing as ever, with mini-arcs centered on Krusty and Midori that captivate fans and helps them see more of their favorite characters. The season also has a spectacular and satisfying finale.

The Disappointing Factor

The third season of Log Horizon had very little material to adapt. This factor resulted in the available material getting dragged out to fit twelve entire episodes, slowing the pace and making it much more boring than in preceding seasons. The episode quality also lacks consistency, owing to the same reason, with extreme highs and lows that end up disappointing the viewer.

 In-Depth Analysis

Log Horizon: Entaku Houkai is the long-awaited third season of the widely acclaimed and viral Log Horizon series. It takes up the same issues that made its initial two seasons so successful but fails in executing them as well as before. Although it does evoke nostalgia among die-hard fans, the series ends up suffering hugely overall due to its slow pace and inconsistent episode quality.

Star Power

Terashima Takuma, Katou Emiri, and Maeno Tomoaki bring their superb voice acting skills to the series, voicing the main characters with enthusiasm and prowess. The supporting actors fit their roles well and deliver polished performances that elevate the show and its appeal.

Overall Opinion

This show is a must-watch for Log Horizon fans. It lacks several aspects compared to its earlier seasons but remains enjoyable as it sustains the power struggle at its core.
