This is a reality tv show that features the behind-the-scenes of the life of celebrities and how they spend their free time when they are away and not working. This show is produced and directed by Jung Hyo min PD who also worked on Hyori’s Homestay, starring Lee Hyori.
The Feel Good Part
On and off is a reality tv show focussing on the life of celebrities, it is overall a good show with some funny scenes. The good part is that it features some A-list stars like IU, Yoona, Twice, and Kim Sejong and we get to see how they interact with their friends and spend their leisure time. Viewers would enjoy certain episodes a lot, especially the episodes featuring the humorous Sejong and Twice.
The Disappointing Part
Some viewers may find the series boring as the concept is not unique, we already have seen a variety of shows like Home alone, My little old boy, or The manager, that focus on celebrities and their life when they are not working. It is a fun show, but there are dozens of better shows out there, with the same theme, which makes it difficult for the viewer to take this show seriously except by focussing on their idol.
In-Depth Analysis
On and off is a Korean variety tv show hosted by Sung shi kyung, Jo se ho, and Kim min ah, who react to and comment on the clips of the celebrities that guest in the program for the week. The show is simply working on the theme of reacting to the life of celebrities behind the scenes to show how they live their lives, the concept is not new and not the best production except for a few genuinely fun episodes.
Star Power
The guest cast of this show is truly the commendable part about it. With episodes featuring IU, Solar, Yoona, Sejong, Twice, Uhm Jung hwa, Soyou, etc. They make the show worth the watch.
Overall Opinion
Overall, the show is not horrible, it’s not bad but it is not good either. The show survives because it’s a list of celebrity guests who are featured on the show, the main hosts do not add any culture or personality to the show. The viewers may enjoy individual episodes, they are fun and easy to watch, wish we could say the same for the whole show. The show is nevertheless revived for another season with a new guest list. The show won an award for being a refreshing variety show.
