Movie Digest
The Dragon Inn Part 1: The city of sadness is a South Korean action noir movie directed by Choi Sang-Hun. The movie proceeds, when a group of vigilantes considers it as their mission to judge and pass comments to individuals, that they think that law has failed to punish adequately.
The Feel-Good Part
Audiences that are much into an action movie, would love to know that the fight scenes in the movie are quite solid. Ji Il-Joo is thrust into a series of events that classically involves physical feats and deeds.
The Disappointing Factor
The movie feels kind of rushed as the title makes it clear enough that there is pretensions of long term success on streaming platforms.
The story take a bit of an unusual turn at the end with the dramatic catharsis falling on a barely established character relationship.
In-Depth Analysis
Dragon Inn appears to be a simplest Chinese restaurant but in fact, it is a safe house of an organization that implements revenge for people facing difficulties. The five members, Ji-hye, Seung-jin, Cheol-min, the boss and Young-tae are gathered for their personal reasons. One day, a murder takes place of an infamous entrepreneur and the victim turns out to be a friend of, one of the member of Dragon Inn squad.
Star Power
Ji Il-joo is quite attractive in comparison to the overly smug Seung-jin and the overactive Young-tae. The tension between the overall crime fighting unit is likable. They are all different in their own ways.
Yee-joo has done the surprise breakout performance of the movie, as a convenience store part timer. She plays off in a great way along with the leads with a fairly compelling subplot I.e., why a young woman should never accept drinks they haven’t seen.
Overall Opinion
Dragon Inn Part one: The city of sadness, is one of the best, classical and interesting movies in the genre created related to action.
