“Again” is a story of a girl named Jo Yeon Joo who worked hard as an assistant director for ten years. Despite her hard work, it is not easy for her to become a director. She loses her confidence and returns to her hometown, Jeonju. She meets Heo San Ok, the last Gisaeng of the Joseon era and a painter. She inspires her to start directing again.

The Feel-Good Part

Yeon Joo’s passion for becoming a director is very inspiring. She doesn’t give up on her dream. The songs in the film are also excellent and soothing.

The Disappointing Factor

It has too many ensemble scenes and fewer stories. This is ok as it is a musical, but people get bored quickly, and the subtitled version of this movie is hard to find.

In-Depth Analysis

She has what it takes to become a director, but gets suppressed by those around her that she ends up working as an assistant for ten years. She held on to the assistant job hoping that she would grow into a director, but she lost faith in herself and retreated. She loses her confidence and returns to her hometown, Jeonju. She meets Heo San Ok, the last Gisaeng of the Joseon era and a painter. A Gisaeng is like a Korean version of Geisha. Heo San Ok is an artistic soul who encourages art and its beauty. She inspires Yeon Joo to give her dream another shot and not give up. She rekindles her passion and starts working on directing.

Star Power

Kim Ye Eun and Ye Soo Jung did an excellent job with their characters, and their songs are also warm and soothing.

Overall Opinion

This film is a musical which might make some people feel bored, but despite that, it is a good story about a soul who is conflicted about following her passion. It is inspiring and soothing to watch and has a good soundtrack.
