Movie Digest

Takemichi Hanagaki is living a horrible working life. Then one day, he sees on the TV that his middle-school ex-girlfriend Hinata Tachibana, his first and only love, has been killed by Tokyo Manji Gang. The next day in the station, someone pushes him on the track, and he suddenly time-travels back to his middle-school days. Now he has a second chance to rescue his girlfriend and save his messed-up life.

The Feel-Good Part

The main lead is a combination of many genres. He is amusing, exciting, hysterical, and, emotional. Takemichi Hanagaki is a very diverse character.

Also, there is a lot of action in the movie and the action is good. It is well choreographed and seems realistic.

The Disappointing Factor

The movie required more time for character development and evolving the story, now because of that, the ending is a mess and leaves many questions unanswered.

It felt like there was no kinship between Takemichi and Hinata, but somehow, she was the driving force. Takemichi was hell-bent on changing the future.

In-Depth Analysis

Tokyo Revengers is an adaptation of the manga with the same name. It revolves around a guy named Takemichi Hanagaki, who lives a miserable life. One day, when he is watching the TV, he finds out that his middle-school girlfriend Hinata Tachibana and his younger brother Naoto Tachibana were murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang. On the next day, when he is at the railway station waiting for his train, someone pushes him onto the railway track, and when he is about to be hit by a train, suddenly he time-travels to his middle-school days which was ten years ago there he tells Naoto Tachibana that he and Hinata will be killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang in ten years. From there Naoto gets prepared, becomes a detective, and avoids getting killed by that gang but Hinata is served the same fate and is murdered by Tokyo Manji Gang yet again.

He then takes help from detective Naoto and goes back to the past to save Hinata.

Star Power

The actors are amazing but it seems like the cast was quite old to be middle-school students. But anyway, Kitamura did a brilliant job at playing Tachibana.

Overall Opinion

The film is not for everyone. It has a lot of action with a good storyline and a unique plot. So, if you like an action-packed movie, go for it; it is fantastic.
