The Unbeatable is a Chinese movie that was released in 2021. The movie is alternatively known as Legend of Fei: Midnight Song, You Fei Po Xue Zhan, and You Fei Zhi Ye Zi Ge. The movie tells the story of the daughter of Li Zheng and the mother of Zhou Fei, Li Jin Rong. Li Jin Rong is the only surviving descendant of the Po Xue Knife clan. Li Jin Rong transforms from a carefree, fearless girl to the hero of the generation, while at her heart, she was seeking revenge. Instead of giving to her sadness of losing her father, she faces challenges and sacrifices along the way. Eventually, Li Jin Rong loses the desire for revenge, and let go of this feeling for the people’s welfare.
The Feel-Good Part
The fans of the original novel series will surely be delighted by the movie adaptation. The character of the female lead was written quite strongly and it was truly empowering to see such a strong female character, which is a relatively rare case in Asian movies.
The Disappointing Factor
The fighting sequences of the movie are badly choreographed, which doesn’t look good on-screen. The direction and videography of the movie are lacking and disrupt the whole vibe of the movie.
In-Depth Analysis
The storyline of the movie is written messily and misses some parts of the novel series. Those who have already read the novel or have watched the drama adaption would agree that the movie adaption lacks the storyline and becomes a little bit complicated. The acting is only the saving factor of the movie and the only reason for you to watch this movie. The soundtrack is average as well as its screenplay.

Han Cong Cong plays the role of Li Jin Rong, and Gavin Gao plays the role of Zhou Yi Tang. The supporting casts include actors such as Chuai Ni as Duan Jiu Niang, Cui Peng as Li Wei, Yu Xin Bo as Shen Tian Qu, Ning Xiao Hua as the Sect leader Song, Deng Li Min as Liang Shao, Gu Yu Han as the younger version of Li Jin Rong, Choi Chan as the younger version of Zhou Yi Tang, Yang Yong as Qiu Tian Ji, Liu Feng Shuo as Wen Yu, and Cao Zi Chen. Popular Chinese author Priest is the writer of the original novel, Legend of Fei.
Overall Opinion
Overall, The Unbeatable is an average movie that can be watched once, but not more than once. The plotline is okay and not too great, while the videography is bad, which ruins the movie. The actors of the movie were the only saving grace of the movie, making it worth watching. The fighting sequence is poorly choreographed which is furthermore ruined by the bad cinematography. Even so, if you decide to watch The Unbeatable, you can also watch its sequel movie called Legend of Fei.
