The Story of Xi Bao is a Chinese movie. The plot of the movie is very simple. Jang Xi Bao is a poor college student who faces many difficulties in her everyday life. She somehow became friends with the rich and innocent Xie Cong Hui. They quickly become friends and Cong Hui invites Xi Bao to her engagement ceremony. There she meets the rich businessman and father of Cong Hui, Xu Cun Zi. He falls for her blunt honesty and offers her a deal.
The Feel-Good Part
The movie is a picturesque feast for anyone looking for a beautiful visually appealing movie. The movie is a cinematic experience with sharp and contrasting scenery. The male lead actor also shows effortless acting in his part which looks natural for his experience. The film leaves no expense in showing off the wealth and luxurious lives of the Xu family making it all a little more realistic.
The Disappointing Factors
The biggest disappointing factor of the movie was how underwritten Jang Xi Bao’s character looked as the movie progressed. Most of the characters’ acting is stoic and looks awkward. The relationship dynamics between the characters are almost non-existent. The chemistry between the main leads is supposed to compensate for the awkward storyline but instead, it does nothing but makes it look more uncomfortable.

The Story of Xi Bao is a Chinese movie. Jang Xi Bao is a poor college student studying in Budapest. She came home for summer vacation only to find out that her mother is dying soon. Her father’s not been around for years but suddenly comes back for his wife’s insurance money. She sends him away after realizing his intentions. In the midst of all this, she meets the sweet, innocent, and rich girl Xie Cong Hui. They soon become good friends and Xie Cong Hui invites Xi Bao to her engagement party with Song Jiaming. There she meets rich businessmen and the father of Xie Cong Hui, Xu Cunzi. She mistakes him for a gardener and rants to him about all her problems. He finds her brutal honesty admiring and falls for her. he soon offers her a deal to fund her studies in exchange for some material pleasures. She initially declines the offer. But soon seeing no other option but to continue her studies she accepts his offer. The movie is a very bland mix of good cinematography with really bad dialogue and acting. It has all the over-the-top melodrama done very badly with no character bonding or chemistry. The relationship dynamics between the character looks awkward and forced.
Star Power
The star power of the show is the male lead Xu Cunzi. The only redeeming quality of the show who makes the show a little more bearable. Other than his acting and the beautiful visual setting there’s nothing much in the drama itself.
Overall Opinion
Overall, the movie is nothing more than a visual documentary of the rich life. apart from the senior actor most of the acting by the main actors was average or straightforward bad paired with bad dialogues. Overall, it’s a forgettable movie with nothing memorable about it.
