Movie Digest
Ge Wei Long moves to Hong Kong from Shanghai to finish her studies. Because of financial issues, she goes to her rich aunt Madame Liang for help. She takes her in and starts using her as a pawn in her games.
Wei Long meets George Chia, a playboy, who clearly tells her not to fall for him but she falls head over heels for him and things start getting complicated.
The Feel-Good Part
The film is shot beautifully. The mansion used gives the vintage vibes perfectly. The costumes, hair, and makeup are exquisite. Everything is just very pleasing to the eyes.
The Disappointing Factor
The movie has too much drama and the relationship between Ge Wei Long and George Chia is too complicated.
Also, the running time of the movie is 2 hr. 24 min. which at some point feels too long.
In-Depth Analysis
Ge Wei Long a young woman, moves from Shanghai to Hong Kong to finish her studies. Due to some financial issues, she goes to her aunt for help. Madame Liang and Wei Long’s father are not on good terms because she leaves them to be the mistress of a rich man and does not marry the man her family chooses for her. Liang takes Wei Long in but she has some plans for her.
Wei Long starts spending more and more time with George Chia who is a son of a rich businessman from his foreign mistress. George knows he will not get much of his father’s inheritance and is on his way to marrying someone rich. Wei Long falls head over heels for him but George is bound by her evil aunt.
The movie shows the pretentious high society of Hong Kong and Ge Wei Long’s struggles to survive in it. The movie depicts this perfectly but lacks many other factors.
Star Power
The star cast is appealing. They all have a different aura of their own and keep the movie afloat. They are all very good-looking because somewhere that is what they wanted to show, how beauty can enchant man and how beauty does not live forever.
Overall Opinion
The movie is fine. Not very engaging and gripping but very elegant and alluring. It is okay for a one-time watch.
