Movie Digest

When it was about the time of the prayer ritual, a giant flying head, Rakshasa, arrived in the sky before Wu Zetian presided over the ceremony of the Seven Temples. Di Renjie and Helian Xiutu collaborated on the investigation. After repeated defeats, Di Renjie and others arrived at the mysterious Beiming Youdu and looked for clues. Di Renjie was not frightened of danger after returning to Luoyang, and it turned out that the master behind the scenes was a wizard Wu Zetian.

The Feel-Good Part

They have used many special effects that were fun to watch. It is visually appealing to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

The plot is not fascinating or rigorous enough. Because the picture is severely underfunded, the filming time is limited, and the post-production did not do a convincing job.

In-Depth Analysis

This film is an adaptation of the story of Di Renjie’s case. Making the Di Renjie series into a Chinese crime-solving fantasy is an excellent concept. The movie’s narrative is too loose, the preface does not match the words, and the explanation is too far-fetched. The sensation of suspense is insufficient, but the sense of horror is sufficient. The beginning of the plot was okay, establishing a fearful and tense environment, but the switch from the investigation procedure to the results was abrupt. The investigation of the case was not thorough. It seems sudden, and it gives an impression that the clues are still a mess, and the solutions are revealed all at once. The special effects used in this film were satisfactory, but it alone was not enough to cover up the flaws.

Star Power

There are not too many characters shown in the film, and the cast did not do a great job as expected. The performance of Wu Zetian by Kristy Yeung is not powerful but convincing enough.

Overall Opinion

Most of the plot is disappointing and confusing, affecting the movie overall. The special effects make this movie bearable enough to watch.
