Drama Digest

A cop meets a lady he takes an immediate dislike to. There is also another woman who always seems to be around. After a series of unusual deaths occur throughout the region, the cop sets out to find out how these deaths are connect and why they are occurring. The story transitions from past and present life. Did their fates cause this or is the reason completely unrelated?

The Feel-Good Part

The series execute the lakorn (past and present life connection) quite well as it is coherent and interesting. Plots like these have a lot of potential to be confusing as it goes back and forth, which can make it difficult to follow. However, the show avoids all these pitfalls as the timelines are segregated well, which is why it’s easy to tell as to what is happening when. The love story of the story is quite intriguing to watch as the characters are interesting individually. The chemistry and love story is not overly romantic, it is subtle and balanced, which is great for people who like realistic romance. There is an explanation for everything and all events connect, which makes the show coherent. The parallels that are drawn between the two timelines is fascinating to watch as it is well-executed since it stays true to the characters through both the time periods.

The Disappointing Factor

The love triangle aspect of the show doesn’t make as much sense as there isn’t a strong enough case for it. The chemistry between the lead characters is the driving force of the show from the beginning, which is why the love triangle feels like a waste of time. The visual effects of the show are poorly executed; the CGI looks low-budget, which can be distracting for the audience watching.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is a complete package of action, romance with sprinkles of humour that make it the perfect show to binge over a couple of weeks. The emotional scenes land very well because the characters are easy to root for. The show could’ve benefited from being a bit shorter as the unnecessary and long-winding subplots could’ve been avoided that way.

Star Power

All the performances were excellent. The cast delivered their characters with precision, which made the show an enjoyable viewing experience as the characters were complex, emotive and likable. Each of them are convincing in both timelines, which is refreshing to see. The star cast is extremely talented.

Overall Opinion

Sunya Ruk Sunya Luang is not a show for everyone as some people may not enjoy stories of reincarnation. The series is well-executed for the most part and succeeds in providing viewers with an entertaining time. It’s a show for people looking for something intense and long to watch over a couple of weeks, where the romance is not overblown and the focus remains on the plot.
