Drama Digest

The show is the movie instalment of the Korean drama Our Beloved Summer. It retells the story of Choi ung and Yeon soo with the interpretation of Choi Woo-Shik and Kim Da-mi. Choi ung and Kook Yeong soo shoot for documentary series which observes the lives of the school topper and the last ranked student in the company of each other. Yeong soo is a straight-A student while Choi ung is not interested in studies. The public loved watching both of them fight, and the documentary was a success. The show follows the lives of Ung and Yeon soo after ten years.

The Feel-Good Part

A perfect re-watch of our favourite drama had never been this easy. The movie has a good screenplay, and the OSTs still give that fresh first love vibes. The story portrays that perfect love stories can exist between imperfect people. All the cast members have done a fabulous job bringing out the characters in the most relatable ways.

The Disappointing Factor

We don’t get to enjoy the stunning performance of the cast. The movie fails to capture the slow and steady bloom of chemistry between the characters in the drama.

In-Depth Analysis

The movie is a 2-hour version of one of the best K-dramas of 2021 – Our Beloved Summer. The movie shows the story of Choi Ung and Yeon Soo in chronological order which is not the case in the drama. The movie also features behind-the-scenes of the drama along with the thoughts of the cast while shooting a particular scene. The interviews with Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi are included. Choi Ung works as a unanimous illustrator who goes by the name Go-oh. Kook Yeon soo works as a PR expert in the RUN company. Unaware that Go-oh is none other than Choi Ung, Yeon soo proposes to bring him to do a live drawing session for the next opening ceremony of their client. The documentary they both did back in high school goes viral again. The PD of the documentary convinces Ji ung to shoot the next installment of the documentary with the current lives of Choi Ung and Yeon soo. Ji ung and Choi ung are best friends from high school time. Ji Ung had a crush on Yeon soo for a long time. Choi ung and Yeon soo dated for a long time after filming the documentary in their high school. Their breakup was rough and not easy for either of them. Ji ung approaches his friends with the proposal of the new installment. Choi ung and Yeon soo have their pact and agree. During the shooting, they rekindle their chemistry and love. NJ, a famous idol, has a crush on Choi ung, and it turns into a scandal. Yeon soo knows Ung too well to judge. Jeong Chae-ran is Ji ung’s junior at the broadcast station and has feelings for him secretly. Gu Eun-ho is Choi Ung’s manager and friend. Lee Sol-Yi is Kook Yeon-soo’s best friend, a former writer and now owns a bar. Eun-ho and Sol-Yi meet through their friends. They are that couple in the show everyone knows will end up together. The movie has a fast pace while covering the drama. No scene which was important, impactful and cutesy are left out.
