Drama Digest:

Kang Hanna started working for Magazine V as a full-time hire. She has a special capability where she can hear any person’s thoughts whom she likes. When she loses her phone by the beach, she finds it with Jung Jewon, a man who has a hearing problem. Hanna convinces Jewon to help her with her work-related issue by singing on stage, and she discovers that she can read his mind, and when they’re together, Jewon discovers that his hearing problems magically disappear. However, after their first kiss, Hanna discovers that she can’t read Jewon’s mind anymore. Hanna’s boss tells her to interview Jewon, and they start forming a romantic bond while Hanna tries to discover why she can’t hear his thoughts anymore, and Jewon wants to know why her hearing problem goes away when he’s with her?

The Feel-Good Part:

This is a sweet drama about the romance between Jewon and Hanna. They have a cute love story that gets enhanced by the music. The show’s music is very pleasant and sweet; it adds to the story and brings the main characters closer. The music makes the drama more appealing.

The Disappointing Factor:

Even though the plot is unique, the flow and the writing of the show are very similar to any other k-drama. The writing and acting are quite basic, exactly like any other romance show. The drama being a mini-series doesn’t have a lot of time to develop and ends up not having much depth.

In-Depth Analysis:

Mute is a love story between two people with special abilities. The music is very well corporated in the story and is a very nice addition to the show. It’s a quick watch, so it doesn’t have any major twists or arcs. It’s a short and sweet drama. Even with the limited time, the show does well and delivers emotions greatly. This show doesn’t have complicated plot points and heavy meaning. It’s funny, sweet, and light-hearted with good music. This drama would be a great relief from angsty and intense shows.

Star Power:

The cast of this show is not as popular but they perform well. They reach the bar of any other k-drama, in terms of acting. The main leads had good enough chemistry, though it could’ve been more nuanced. The supporting cast was good, too; they had good comedic timing.

Overall Opinion:

This is a fun, sweet drama for a casual and quick watch. It’s a perfect show for someone who wants to relax. It can be watched in one sitting. The lack of complexity makes it a show that you can rewatch any time to relax for the cute romance and lighthearted humor.
