Drama Digest

“Behind Every Star” is a South Korean television series released in 2022 and directed by Baek Seung-Ryong. It is based on a French TV series called “call my agent.” The show tells the story of celebrity managers working for an entertainment management company named Method Entertainment. It is a talent management firm where the agents work with solid personalities and deals with office politics while keeping their clients satisfied.

The Feel-Good Part

The series is an exciting and funny one. It does not have much resemblance to the French series but is unique in its way. The script of the show was incredible. The group dynamics and work environment shown in the series are accurate and praiseworthy. It is light and easy to watch. The genre of the show fits well in drama, where there are great celebrities and management companies.

The Disappointing Factor

Some part of the script was disappointing and did not offer anything exciting. The ending was abrupt and unsatisfactory. Some of the characters lacked consistency and adapted to any random narrative that was offered. The pacing of the show was not matching. It lacked the humor and entertainment of the original show.

In-Depth Analysis

Method entertainment is a significant entertainment and management company. It consists of several employees and shows their daily work lives, personal lives, and their needs and desires. Ma Tae Oh is the general director at method entertainment and is a professional manager. He is intelligent and a strategist. He can go to any means to achieve what he wants. Cheon Je In is another manager in the company. She has worked as a manager for 14 years. In the beginning, she was a non-site manager but now is promoted to a leader of a management team. She is hot-tempered but also competitive and hardworking. When she wants something, she tries to achieve it without careful interpretation. Cheon Je In and Ma Tae Oh have many disagreements while working together. Kim Joong Don holds the same position as Cheon Je In, a manager team leader, and is her best friend. He is a kind and gentle person. So, Hyun Joo is a newly employed manager and gets into trouble often. But over time, she gains experience and becomes a professional manager.

Star Power

Lee Seo Jin, Kwak Sun Young, Seo Hyun Woo, and Joo Hyun Young played the four prominent roles of Ma Tae Oh, Chun Je In, Kim Joong Don, and So Hyun Joo.  Although these actors have less experience working in the leading role, they performed well in this series. The two male leads have no charm in them, and their acting is bland. Kwak Sun Young did an excellent job of portraying the self-destructive character of Cheon Je In.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is an excellent show representing entertainment management companies, showcasing the hard work of the managers. The show does not relate much to the French show that it is adapted from but it can be enjoyed. It is wholesome and provides humor. It is a good-to-watch show and is available on all platforms for streaming.
