Drama Digest

After the death of her parents, Momoko Adachi was entrusted with her three younger siblings. She decided to give up on going to University to support her family and prioritised her sibling’s happiness over everything else. After nine years, Adachi is still busy with work to make her siblings happy. But one day, while working at the hardware store, she meets Yoshioka-san. His jolly smiles catch her attention, and she finds herself getting attracted to him. He hides his past secret to avoid showing that he is afraid of falling in love. But before falling in love, Momoko must uncover his secret and balance the happiness of her siblings.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is a pleasant show that warms you with its simple yet engaging story. It makes you feel good and is pleasing to the eyes. The issue of the pandemic has also been addressed wisely, without putting too much focus on it. The show makes you feel like you’re going on a journey and watching the characters grow up and learn more about themselves. Momoko tries her best to live her life positively and help others. Her relationship with her childhood best friend, Miyuki. Momoko is always ready to help her out, even if she can’t afford to do so. Miyuki is also ever ready to help her best friend. Her attempts to find a job are hilarious and add a touch of comedic relief to the story. She has a hard time finding a job, but she still prioritizes it over everything else. The chemistry between Momoko and her siblings is also a treat to watch. Watching them support each other through tough times makes us crave the same love and support. When they touch upon the hardships of the pandemic, the audience can relate to the hard times and feel relieved with the characters.

The Disappointing Factor

Though the drama is a feel-good show, it does not show the real side-effects of the Pandemic. It lightly touches upon it without diving too deep into it. All the character’s seemingly get stressed, but they are overpowered by the happy vibes given by the rest of the characters. Some of the plotlines can feel boring because of the focus on the office rather than the family aspect.

Nee-chan no Koibito is a light and simple Japanese drama which is closer to reality and helps find hope in difficult times. It touches upon the sadness and pain of being alone while facing problems, but at the same time, offers a solution for the same. The show also helps the readers a reason to keep trying to get back at their problems and find solace in little things in life. The romance is realistic yet full of twists. Considering the slow pacing of the drama, the drama introduces cumbersome problems and emotional traumas.
