Drama Digest

Kaguya Sama: Love is War has at its center two brilliant and proud high school students, Shirogane and Kaguya, who are crushing over each other, but won’t admit it. Each tries to win a confession from the other by setting certain traps. The setting up of several humorous mind games leads to one outwitting the other. The most amusing part is that people are already aware of the affections they have for each other; it is only the both of them who are indulging in mind games to lead the other to confess. The second season is focused on the second school term and the summer break. The main concern of season 2 is the student council election. Character development across season 1 and season 2 is noteworthy. A few new characters are also present but the same concern continues- will the leads end up together? Will the mind games lead to them entering into a relationship? Watch the series to put your curiosity to ease and enjoy the variety of emotions it offers.

The Feel-Good Part

The best part about Kaguya Sama: Love is War (Season 2) is that it keeps its audience wanting more. The two leads would be perfect together but their pride gets in the way; for them, love (as the title suggests) is war, and confession is like submission to the authority of other. Ishigami’s backstory is impressive and it highlights the theme of leaving the past behind, which leads to character development.

The Disappointing Factor

When it comes to comedy, season 1 was much better in the sense that it induced more laughter. Shirogane and Kaguya’s character development is nothing in comparison to Ishigami’s. Some viewers believe that it even got worse. The plot is divided between the characters unevenly and is a cause of disappointment.

In-Depth Analysis

In comparison to season 1, season 2 offers a more realistic drama plot and is not totally focused on inducing laughter. Ishigami’s backstory talks about a significant theme of putting the past to rest and becoming a better person; the theme is relatable and adds an important feature to the show other than comedy. The series is visually appealing and well-written. The new characters along with the side characters are perfectly fit for the plot. They add much charisma to the already well-written narrative.

Star Power

The characters are adorable and funny, and their expressions are especially amusing. Each character plays a specific role and adds to the overall charisma of the series. The voice actors and actresses have done an excellent job; their voices are perfect for the respective characters and carry substantial emotions in them.

Overall Opinion

Season 2, like season 1, is mainly focused on comedy, but the plot revolves around the student council. Character development is visible, though not equal. Overall, the show is earnest and a fun way to take a break from daily routine. It is somewhat relatable and realistic in comparison to the first season. If you enjoyed the first season, the second season is a must-watch.
